MISD Middle School Cheerleading Tryout Date & Location May 22 and 23, 2020 RL Anderson Stadium 1015 E. Broad St. Mansfield, TX 76063 Tryout Material Candidates will be responsible for learning the tryout cheer and dance located on the MISD Fine Arts: www.mansfieldisd.org/departments/fine-arts/cheerleading/ms/routines Middle school tryout material will be posted on Monday, May 11th. Tryout cheer will be performed without poms, using your middle school’s mascot, letters, and colors. Tryout dance will be performed without props. Tryout Attire All candidates will appear before the judging panel in the designated uniform: white shirt, with no visible logos, black shorts, and any type of white athletic shoe. Hair of candidates must be pulled away from the face; no bow. Tryout Location and Check in Procedure Tryouts will be held at RL Anderson Stadium on the football field located at 1015 E. Broad St. Candidates will be assigned a 5 minute time slot for their tryout, to be communicated to them via email. Check in will be at the main gate on the east side of the stadium. Check in time will be 15 minutes prior to your assigned tryout time. Do not exit your vehicle prior to that time. If you do not think that is enough time to properly stretch and warm up you may do this prior to arrival. Candidates, school representatives, and judges are the only persons allowed into the tryout. Parents, relatives, friends or other visitors are not allowed into the tryouts. Tryout Procedure Candidates will be escorted to an on-deck area located on the north side of the football field prior to their tryout time. The tryout area will be 40 yards wide, marked by cones, between the 30 yard lines. Candidates will be given the opportunity to warm up with one running tumbling pass in the north end zone prior to their tryout; then will proceed to the 30 yard line and wait for a signal from the judges to begin. Cheerleader candidates will perform the following, individually, in the following order: a tumbling series three jumps one compulsory cheer a compulsory dance Candidate will start their cheer and dance on the 50 yard line. Candidates will need to leave immediately following their tryout. Due to social distancing requirements, we ask that you not congregate in the parking lot before or after your tryout. Scores will be tabulated at the end of all six middle school tryouts and the results will be posted on the district web site by the end of the day on Tuesday, May 26 th Because of the school closure, the Pre-Tryout Evaluation rubric will not be used as a part of the candidate’s score. Scores will be determined solely on the scores of the three judges on the day of the tryout. Due to health concerns associated with sharing the mascot costume amongst candidates, mascot tryouts for those middle school campuses with a mascot, will be rescheduled for the beginning of the 2020 school year. Please note that the tryout date, location, and procedures are subject to change due to either weather and/or changes from the state due to COVID-19.
