SAVE THE LEFTOVERS John 6:12
I used to hear “waste not want not” all
the time when I was growing up, not
realizing that the concept came from the
Word of God and the Work of the Sav-
ior. I just thought it was the attitude of those who had
been through the great depression who were afraid they
might go hungry again someday.
When Jesus fed the 5,000 men in John 6 there were
some “fragments” left over. When the little boy’s lunch
of 5 loaves and 2 fishes was transferred to the loving
hands of the Savior, everybody had plenty to eat. Verse
12 tells us that they were all “filled.” Nobody went
away hungry. But the fragments left over were just as
important to Jesus as the food in the belly of those that
got full. The disciples were instructed to “gather up the
fragments that remain, THAT NOTHING BE LOST.”
Have you ever gone to the grocery store to shop right
after you have eaten a big meal? Have you ever gone
on an empty stomach when you hardly had strength to
push the buggy down the isle? There is a difference.
Fragments are way more valuable to the hungry than
they are to the full. The disciples had to be instructed to
take up the fragments because they were stuffed.
May we all pray together that America will stop taking
for granted the blessings of Almighty God. May we be
ever thankful for the fragments, because the time may
come soon in America when that is all we have.
Jesus is Lord,
Bro. Jim

Mr. & Mrs.
Kevin
Kirkwood
On July 16. 2016, two former graduates and current
employees of the Mission of Hope were joined together as
husband and wife before God at a service held at the Mission
chapel. Brother Jim Jordan officiated the service as many
family, friends, and fellow employees looked on. Jaime Reed
has been an official employee at the Haven of Hope for
women since June of 2015. Kevin Kirkwood has been em-
ployed by the Mission since May of 2015. Both waited one
year to get married as is asked by the Mission of Hope. We
admire them for their submission to those in authority.
Kevin & Jaime will be living in one of the cottages on the
men’s campus and continuing their work for this ministry.
There is no better match than one hand picked by God
especially for you. We pray for God to bless this marriage
and protect and grow them as a couple in Christ!

My name is Rachel
and I work at the Taylor
House in Mt. Vernon.
Before I came to the Haven, I was
broken and didn't know anything about
Jesus. My mother died at the age of 41
due to her own addiction. I was only 19 at
the time. It was at this point that my ad-
diction grew worse. For the next 14 years I
spun out of control. I lost my kids, my
family, and I felt so alone. I was in and out
of jail, went to prison, and was on my way
back.
BUT GOD had a different plan for
my life. I came to the Haven on July 1st,
2015. I began to hear about this man
named JESUS and I wanted to know more
and more about HIM. I wanted to be free
of my sins and the drug addiction that had
such a strong hold on me for so long. I
gave my life to the Lord on July 4th and
was baptized on July 5th, 2015. I had
given everything else a try, why not JESUS?
My life has not been the same
since. God has put a new song in my
mouth, given me a new life, and I no
longer feel alone. He is restoring my rela-
tionship with my kids and family. I will for-
ever be grateful for Mission of Hope and I
stand in victory today all because of Jesus
Christ.
“I waited patiently for the Lord; and He
inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He
brought me up also out of an horrible
pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet
upon a rock, and established my goings.
And He hath put a new song in my
mouth...” Psalms 40:1-3 (KJV)

Our chapel at the men's program was overflowing on

Forty five years ago,
God spoke to Bro.
Lonnie Miller & gave
him a word. He and his
wife were to open up a
facility that was free to
indigent men needing to
be transformed from a
life of addiction to a life
led by God.
Thank you Lord that these selfless servants of
yours had the heart of obedience and love to fol-
low You. God has grown and taken care of this
ministry beyond belief since then. Please join us
on August 12, 2016 at Dauphin Way Baptist
Church at 5:30 for our celebration of hope as we
praise God for 45 years and all the saved souls,
redeemed lives, and restored families.
