Mission Statement
We, the parish of St. Isidore, witness to the world the love of Christ
we have received in the Sacraments, and we invite others to personally
experience the Grace of God through prayer, acts of service, and spiritual formation.
2 l St. Isidore Parish
From the Desk of Father Eugene A question that I was asked recently is, “What is the purpose of a blessing?” Blessings are categorized into two types: invocative and constitutive. In an
invocative blessing the minister implores the diving favor of God to grant some spiritual or temporal good without any change of condition and is recognition of God’s good-ness such as blessing before meals. A constitutive blessing, invoked by a bishop, priest, or deacon signifies the perma-nent sanctification and dedication of a person or thing for some sacred purpose. Here the person or objects takes on a sacred character and would not be returned to a non-sacred or profane use. For example, when a rosary or chal-ice is blessed it is now designated and dedicated for sacred use only.
~God Bless, Fr. Eugene
