Mission Statement
The objective of Faculty Services is “Connecting with Faculty.” We strive to deliver quality work and pertinent services to faculty that enhance the learning experience of the Messiah student.
We are proud of the contribution we make in shaping the lives of these young people. “Connecting with Faculty” is a vital part of our ability to fulfill the College mission.
Purpose Statement
Faculty Services provides customized teaching materials and academic support / training services to faculty. We relentlessly strive to meet the demands and expectations of faculty by assessing their needs and matching our services accordingly.
We partner with the college community to ultimately educate men and women toward maturity of intellect, character and Christian faith in preparation for lives of service, leadership and reconciliation in church and in society.

SERVICES
Copyright ClearanceCopyright clearance must be obtained for the following:
Materials that are:
used in a Coursepack sold in the Textbook Express
placed on library reserve
distributed in the classroom
placed on Learning Management System (LMS) or dept. drive

Requests must be submitted 6-8 weeks prior to the start of the semester to ensure permission is obtained.
Contact the Faculty Services Supervisor to obtain a copy of the Messiah College Copyright Clearance Guidelines.
Test Scoring
A scanner is used to grade multiple choice and true / false tests and quizzes.
Test scoring results are provided within 24-hours.
Test scoring forms are obtained from the College Press.
Copyright Infringement
Before you copy: Make sure you know your rights and the rights of those whose work you are duplicating. Copyright infringement is against the law. Be certain you are not putting yourself or the College at risk.
Document and Slide Scanning
Text files are scanned into Word or .pdf files.
Photos and slides are scanned into .jpg files.
Personal Web Page Design
Assist faculty with creating and maintaining their personal web pages.

There are several options that are currently available for processing surveys.
We have outlined them on the next slide andhave listed what the recommendations are for each program.
All on-line surveys provide instant results / reports.
Types of SurveysONLINE Sakai Assessment Tool: Customizable web-based survey. Instant
results. Ideal for on-line surveys within one course.
Survey Monkey: Also a customizable web-based survey. Instant results. Ideal for on-line surveys within one course.
Adeptiv Software: Web-based survey with some restrictions and limitations. Instant results. Fairly streamlined. Ideal for basic assessment in multiple courses or campus-wide.
HARD COPY Paper Form: Manually processed surveys. Multiple day turn-around
time. Additional incurred costs of $.13 per form. Ideal for in-class surveys.

An LMS is a teaching and learning environment that features course management, online assessments, student tracking, assignment, and virtual collaboration.
SAKAI Online Courses or supplement Traditional Courses

• . . . Synchronous is a formal term used in computer-mediated communication, collaboration and learning indicating a “real-time” environment. It is used to describe various online chatting technologies. This technology includes audio / video conferencing and instant messaging.
