A Message from our Board ChairpersonDear Friends,

As I reflect on my years serving theSunshine Kids as a volunteer, coordinator,and now a board member, it has causedme to question what makes the SunshineKids Foundation such a passionate andcohesive organization.

Twenty-five years ago, I remember beinga guest in a board meeting as our missionstatement was being revisited. The resultsimply states, “The Sunshine KidsFoundation adds quality of life to childrenwith cancer by providing them withexciting, positive group activities, sothey may once again do what Kids aremeant to do . . . have fun and celebratelife!” Our staff, volunteers, supporters, nurses, medical representativesand friends all over the country have enabled thousands of Kids to do just that. The unique thing about thisfoundation is that the experience doesn’t end with the activity. Kids fighting cancer from across North America have builtlifelong friendships with the Kids they met on Sunshine Kid trips and events.

Our board of directors recently attended the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices National Convention in Dallas, Texas.At the convention were Spokeskids past, present and future representing twenty-five years of affiliation with this greatcompany. We cannot possibly express how much we appreciate all that BHHS has done for the Sunshine KidsFoundation. Our mission statement would be greatly diminished without their support.

Also attending the convention in support of the Sunshine Kids was the cast of “Major Crimes”, the TNT hit televisionseries. The commitment, dedication and generosity of not only the cast, but also that of the crew and production companyadds to the impact that they and all of our supporters and volunteers bring to the Sunshine Kids family, which as a resulthas created this passionate and cohesive organization.

Throughout his career, former Houston Astros player Craig Biggio has supported the Sunshine Kids Foundation. Since 2003, he has proudly served as the National Spokesperson helping to bring joy, laughter and smiles to countless Kids and their families. Together with his wife, Patty, they have helped raise millions of dollars through a host of fundraising events making it possible to create more opportunities for children across the country.

In 2015, Craig was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York. It is our honor to congratulate him on this outstanding accomplishment and thank him and his family for themany years of love and commitment to children battling cancer.
