POSTLUDE
RESPONSIVE READING: I Samuel 10:6-16
Leader: And the Spirit of the LORD will come upon thee, and thou
shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another
man.
People: And let it be, when these signs are come unto thee, that
thou do as occasion serve thee; for God is with thee.
Leader: And thou shalt go down before me to Gilgal; and, behold, I
will come down unto thee, to offer burnt offerings, and to sacrifice sacrifices of peace offerings: seven days shalt
thou tarry, till I come to thee, and shew thee what thou
shalt do.
People: And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from
Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs
came to pass that day.
Leader: And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him,
and he prophesied among them.
People: And it came to pass, when all that knew him beforetime
saw that, behold, he prophesied among the prophets, then
the people said one to another, What is this that is come
unto the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?
Leader: And one of the same place answered and said, But who is
their father? Therefore it became a proverb, Is Saul also
among the prophets?
People: And when he had made an end of prophesying, he came
to the high place.
Leader: And Saul's uncle said unto him and to his servant, Whither
went ye? And he said, To seek the asses: and when we saw that they were no where, we came to Samuel.
People: And Saul's uncle said, Tell me, I pray thee, what Samuel
said unto you.
... All: And Saul said unto his uncle, He told us plainly that the
asses were found. But of the matter of the kingdom,
whereof Samuel spake, he told him not.
A message from our Pastor
Praise the Lord, Saints!
There is a spiritual connection between God and cleanliness. When we are introduced to the beginning of the world in Genesis, we find that everything that God created was approved by Him saying, “and it was good.” Everything that God looked upon was declared good because it was made by His divine power. God’s power is purity in motion. The purity of God alone suggests His cleanliness. Therefore, anything that is soiled or dirty is not considered clean. When God made us from the dust of the ground, that dust is not to be considered with what we know as dust. In other words, anything that God touches, uses or speaks to, becomes purified and cleansed by His presence. Nothing remains the same in the presence of God.
When we confess Jesus Christ as our personal Savior, His immediate presence arises from within us because He is already there. He said, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock.” He changes this corruptible flesh into the incorruptible spirit that only He can change. The change takes place because His presence sterilizes our spirits, purifies our souls and cleans up our house, which is the spiritual house in each of us. The power of His Godliness performs the cleanliness needed to purify us from the infection of sin.
Consider the surgeon, his medical equipment and operating room. Everything the surgeon must use is sterilized to prevent infection from setting up in us because God made us perfect. Regardless of the illness, disease or malady, the divine in us cannot be contaminated because of the presence of God in us. If we reference the creation of human life, we will find where God breathed into our nostrils his own breath to give us life. That means that the Divine God has placement in us. Man does not have the ability to corrupt the presence, power or purity of God. We can only corrupt ourselves. No matter how much we abuse ourselves by not eating right or consuming substances that harm the body, the spirit of God in us remains.
The Spirit of God may not appreciate what we do to the body that He gave us, but He still loves us. We go searching and researching for cures to our ailments with limited success. I emphasize “limited success” because medicine is still a practice not a perfection. The only perfection is God. His kingdom is perfect. It is why flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of God because imperfection and perfection cannot coexist in God’s presence. Notice that the scriptures say that God cannot look upon sin. He turns away from sin while our flesh tries to embrace sin.
The Holy Spirit continuously reaches out to cleanse us from sin, transgressions and foul play because He is not content that any of us become lost in sin’s dirty, deceitful decadence. The Spirit of God is a Holy presence whereas He wants us to become wholesome in Him. The only way that we can dwell in the presence of the Lord is to be cleaned up by Him. There definitely is a connection between the Spirit of God and cleanliness because the next best thing to God is cleanliness.
