Licensure Requirements
➢ Beginning January 1, 2017
• Masters degree must be 60 semester/90 quarter
hour program with 12 content areas
• Candidates for licensure must report supervised
hours using the online log portal provided through
the LPC Board’s website.

Requirements
➢ Five years full-time post graduation experience

Supervision by Distance Professional
Services
➢ Supervision can be provided by way of Distance
Professional Services.
• Complete the Board Certified TeleMental Health (BC-TMH)
credential through CCE.
• File the BC-TMH credential with the Board.
• Conferencing/supervision is only allowed via secure synchronous
video.
• The Supervision Agreement submitted to the Board must explain
the use and limits of distance supervision.
Supervision Education/Training
Requirements
➢Graduate Level Academic Training -
official transcript delineating 3 hour class
in supervision
➢Professional training – 45 hours
➢Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS)
credential from the Center for
Credentialing and Education (CCE)
Board Qualified Supervisor (LPC-S)
Responsibilities
➢ Ensure the supervisee has the appropriate training
(appropriate degree, course hours, etc.) and skills to
become licensed.
➢ Develop the supervisee’s clinical skills and competencies.
➢ Provide documented one-to-one and/or group face-to-face
consultation, guidance, and instruction. Supervised
experience is documented through the Board’s website.
➢ Is responsible (liable) for the supervisee’s professional
counseling/actions.
Board Qualified Supervisor (LPC-S)
Responsibilities
Maintains accountability for the supervisee’s hours based
on the following guidelines.
• Minimum of 1 hour of supervision per
▪ 40 hours of total services provided (the supervisee cannot count
more than 40 hours of total service in a week) and
▪ 25 hours of direct services provided (Pending Rules and Regulation
change: the supervisee cannot count more than 25 hours of direct
services in a week).

Supervised Experience Changes for the
LPC
➢ The new Rules and Regulations - someone
with a P-LPC can practice in a private
practice setting (a “non-governed by”
setting) with an LPC onsite.
➢ Prior Rules and Regulations required an
individual with an LPC-S onsite.
