A minor revision is one that someone else in your organisation can use ahead of being issued to the CDE as shared.

Information which has reached a status where it can be used by others outside your organisation for a purpose.

It is thoroughly checked and approved for a specific purpose i.e. coordination.

Released to the design team in a ‘safe environment’

Restricted use by the contractor and not seen by the client unless released to client shared.

D – codes can be used when information is needed by the client or contractor for a purpose but not yet authorised.

All information that is superseded whether it was accepted or not.

Using a construction specific CDE removes the headache from this as they auto-archive

• Project – Shared Code 2-6 characters • Originator - Your business 3-6 characters• Zone – Used to split the project into manageable subdivisions 2-3 characters • Level – represents the storey of the building / level of construction 2-3 characters• File type – Is it a model, spec or a drawing etc 2 characters • Role – What role you are appointed in e.g.. Architect 1 characters • Number - Every discipline starts at 00001 and follows BS1192 from there 4-6 characters
