WHAT’S NEW?
The Impreza is all new for the 2012 model year. Bold exterior styling distinguishes the Impreza from other compact sedans and hatchbacks and a new, redesigned layout provides greater interior space and cargo volume. In addition, the new 2012 Impreza is 30% more fuel efficient thanks to the new Boxer engine and to various powertrain enhancements, including the availability of Subaru’s second-generation Lineartronic® CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) on select models.
New to the Impreza line for 2012 is an available Lineartronic® CVT. Select models will feature a 6-speed manual mode for drivers who like a sportier feel but don’t miss using a clutch in stop-and-go traffic.
Aerodynamics on the Impreza have been greatly improved to help provide better fuel efficiency and have resulted in almost a 20% reduction in rolling resistance.
The front seats utilize frames, firm head restraints and energy-absorbing mounting of the inner seat springs, all to help reduce the chance of whiplash.
An additional knee airbag was added for 2012; this feature is standard on the entire Impreza lineup. Along with dual front airbags, seat-mounted side airbags, side curtain airbags and front seatbelt pre-tensioners.
Weight reduction combined with the Lineartronic® CVT in the all new Impreza equals excellent fuel economy. Models equipped with the Lineartronic® CVT will see a 30% improvement over previous models. That means 5.5 L/100 km on the highway and 7.5 L/100 km in the city.
The 2.5i Limited Package features the Pioneer® AVH-P3300BT display audio system with AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA/DVD/DivX®, iPod®/USB audio integration with text display, auxiliary audio input and steering wheel-integrated audio controls.
Although the wheelbase has been extended the overall length of the Impreza has stayed the same. Rear passengers will enjoy added leg and hip room to make that trip even more comfortable.
A multi-function display with a 4.3-inch colour monitor with steering wheel-mounted controls, which features fuel data, eco-guide, vehicle dynamics monitor, clock, outside temperature gauge and maintenance reminder, and helps keep the driver informed as well as involving passengers into the driver experience. A distinct design found on the brand new 2012 Impreza is the addition of hawk-eye headlights. This bold look adds a sporty and unique look when compared to its competitors.
Carried down from the newly designed Legacy look is the hexagonal grille design. The Impreza inherits this design to express stability and share a common point throughout the Subaru lineup.
