Crisis Committees

• These are not your standard committees!

• These are the fast, dynamic, ever-changing committees of MUN

• These committees tend to favor an ‘alternate universe’

• However, some crisis committees do historical reenactments, such as the six-day war or the invasion of a Greek city-state by Sparta

Crisis – This is your ‘alternative universe’ one

• Several Electromagnetic Pulses have been released within America simultaneously. These devices destroy electronics and networks across the nation, the only working communication is from a radio signal with the British government who mobilize their army, and send planes to America to get an update of the country. America is in shambles, and the government has no way of quickly organizing themselves without use of technology. There are rumors that this is the work of the Taliban, however it was not known that they had the capacity for this level of destruction.

Historical Crisis – your historical reenactment

• The first visible cracks in the iron curtain appeared two days ago on May 2nd.  Early Tuesday morning Hungarian Prime Minister Gyula Horn announced at a press conference that after many conversations with the Austrian Foreign Minister Alois Mock the border between the two countries has been opened, and the fence will be taken down. This could cause further issues within the Soviet Union. Mikhail Gorbachev met with Wojciech Jaruzelski concerning the conclusion of the Polish round table talks on April 5th. Throughout this conversation, lasting over three and a half hours, both leaders devoted their utmost attention to the problems of the transformation being conducted broadly in both countries. The world is waiting and watching now to see what the capitalist and communist giants think about Austria’s and Hungary’s actions
