• Diversity Considerations – Gender, race/culture, nationality, ability,
age/generation – MCC/MCC-affiliated, Non-MCC, Clergy, Lay
QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITERIA
SELECTION CRITERIA FOUNDATION
Spiritual Leadership; Executive Management; Denominational Governance; Public Relations
Is able to frame a compelling vision for MCC; Is someone with an entrepreneurial spirit for building and leading a global movement; Is well-grounded in the dynamics and experience of congregational life; Has evidenced global and cross- cultural experiences with a personal history of embracing diversity; Has evidenced knowledge of and commitment to MCC's mission, vision, and core values; Has the demonstrated capacity to think, act, and lead strategically; Is able to inspire the people and bring them together for a bigger and collective purpose; Is committed to global justice; Is skilled in communication, including public speaking, media relations, writing, and interpersonal interaction; Models excellence and high standards in ministry; Possesses demonstrable theological depth; Is a person of integrity

MNC MODERATOR CONSIDERATIONS • Be able to inspire the people of MCC and bring
them together for a bigger and collective purpose
• Foster alignment and action throughout MCC based on MCC’s core values
• Provide leadership for the growth of our congregations
• Have a strong understanding and deep appreciation of the needs, dynamics, and possibilities of healthy congregational life
• Provoke questions and inspire possibilities that engage MCC to action
• Be able to work with a Board of Directors, as well as communicate effectively in a variety of media and venues
• Build a powerful shared vision throughout MCC
• Lead MCC in engaging the important questions about MCC’s vision and mission identity
• Inspire all of us in MCC to embrace our shared vision and think beyond ourselves
• Have an awareness and understanding of current leadership trends such as strategic thinking, learning agility, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and comfort with ambiguity
• Lead MCC in developing a new kind of leadership for a new era in MCC using traditional models, as well as, new innovative approaches
• Be able to build on past fundraising successes to establish and articulate a new, sustainable, dependable development model

LEADERSHIP ASSESSMENT TOOL CAMPBELL LEADERSHIP DESCRIPTOR Assesses nine major leadership attributes for successful leadership: 1. Vision: Establish the general tone and direction of the organization
2. Management: Set specific goals and focus resources on achieving them
3. Empowerment: Select and develop subordinates who are committed to the organization’s goals
4. Diplomacy: Forge coalitions with important internal and external constituencies
5. Feedback: Observe and listen carefully then share the resulting information in a beneficial manner
6. Entrepreneurialism: Find future opportunities through mechanisms such as new projects, programs, or policies
7. Personal Style: Sets an overall organizational tone of competence, optimism, integrity, and inspiration
8. Personal Energy: Has the necessary energy and durability to handle the demands of leadership: long hours, stress, conflicts, travel

Screen and assess applicants to determine which applicants are qualified for the office of the Moderator per the MNC Moderator selection criteria
