A L O V E L E T T E RWelcome to the very first issue of the Modern Girl Society Magazine. We are super excited to bring modern spirituality to the modern girl. We have noticed that there is a spiritual revolution happening and we couldn’t be more ready or more excited. Finally!! This is our time.

We have spent thousands of hours with thousands of souls coming alongside their journey into hope and freedom and their true authentic self. We wanted to celebrate this journey with a whole new look and feel. We have created a whole new website, membership site, a new fresh podcast, periscope and classes all created for our loves, the modern girl.

Whether you are 20 or over 50 doesn’t matter, it is the spirit and soul of the person that identifies as a modern soul. We have created a Modern Girl

manifesto (page 9) that embodies what a modern girl is all about.

We have poured our hearts and souls into this experience and we are honored you have joined us. This first issue is free as we wanted to celebrate and show you the amazing things we are planning in the upcoming year. Get ready, buckle up, this is going to be a year for the books!!

So break out the bubbly (or green juice) and celebrate with us, the modern girl is here and ready to take over the world. This is our time. This is our moment. I am a life path seven, scorpio, who lets passion take the wheel of life. I am more confident today in my own skin and voice, and each day only continues to grow stronger and stronger. I didn't start out this way. I have been to the depths of darkness and sadness in this life. I couldn't figure out why everyone around me seemed to belong while I felt like a stranger. It seemed like everyone else had this secret to life that I missed the memo on. I searched for happiness in both religion and rebellion in which I call the ultimate contrast. I have been the goody two shoes and I have been the rock and roll rebel. This theme also found me in my career life. I packed up my bags and moved my life across the country after I signed a modeling contract in NYC. Let me tell you.. happiness is not found on the covers of magazines or the runways of the fast life. I turned down my modeling career when everyone told me I was crazy. I found the complete opposite job I could find and landed my next role on Wall Street. Managing million dollar clients in exclusive Ivy League circles doesn't hold happiness either. What the fuck? Am I broken? When I found meditation, my whole world opened up. My spiritual awakening had begun. I dropped the happy hours, replaced it with green juice and started posting positivity and glitter all over my life. I had a huge shift, but it was still missing something…. ME. It isn't enough to transform your life into spirituality.

The same rules apply. “Only love and light” .. Such a harmless statement right? But what happens with all of our darkness? Does it just vanish? No. Most people are pretending it was never there or they go into hiding mode. Here is where I found the secret to happiness: AUTHENTICITY & ACCEPTANCE. One of the phrases you will hear me say A LOT is: “Just be real”. That is all you need in order to find happiness. FUCK PERFECTION. This became my new motto. You will never find or achieve perfection. There is no secret code, no memo that was missed. True happiness is a choice.

I have stepped up into my true purpose as a leader in spirituality, energy, and metaphysical. I am here alongside my mom to be a voice for the modern generation. One of the missing ingredients out there is FEELING, AUTHENTICITY, ACCEPTANCE, and the idea that you are damn sure allowed to be SENSUAL + SPIRITUAL. (total scorpio right? I told you)

Throw out what you may think about meditation, energy, and intuition. I promise to always be real, even when things get messy. Will you join me? Let’s feel fucking happy!! This is your life, your energy, your choice.

I am so excited to introduce my babe of a business partner and my mom… Traci. She is my rock, my soul mate, and the reason I can fly so high in this world.

The modern girl can feel misunderstood and alone at times. The reason she may be out in the happy hour world or the reason that she is outwardly seeking happiness; is this overwhelming feeling that if she truly is who she is… she will be alone. It can feel painful, something you want to numb out or ignore. The modern mom is a sacred space for you to be heard, be valued, and be validated in your journey. Its not a place of judgement, but a place to find the unconditional love that is missing. Whether you do not have a mom or you don't have a connection with your mom, Traci is more than just a voice and MY mom… she is the mom for those who don't have one. A lot of us have difficult relationships with our family, and this is a place for you to get the connection you may have never had.

I have been an open book with mom. If you are looking for someone to love you in all of your contrast.. I invite you get to know this shiny soul a little deeper.

So many ask me what it is like to be the modern girls mom. I am a modern girl, and I am a modern girls mom. I raised four of my very own modern girls and couldn’t be more proud of each and every one of them. I also take on thousands of other modern girls and offer a modern mom’s touch to your heart and soul.

I have such a love for those of us on the modern girl journey. We are the dreamers, the healers, the innovators, the kick ass CEO’s in the office and the home. We have a passion for souls, we love fiercely and in the same breath, we take no shit and we invest heavily in our own well being. Finally it is our time. Finally the world is starting to make sense. On (page 9) we have the Modern Girl’s Manifesto.

As a mom of the modern soul, it has been a journey. I have had to be the trailblazer for my family and soul tribe. I forged through shadows of the night and beautiful highs of the light. I won’t lie, there was a ton of healing. I had to go first. It is just part of the deal. As I have learned so much, released massive amounts of what no longer serves me… I have poured this wisdom into my own daughters. And now you. You are my why. The modern girl and the modern soul (can’t leave out the guys) are the reason I kept going on my journey to happiness. I want to bring as many people with me as I can.

Here are a few tips for you that I have found to be valuable.

• Detach from your old stories. You are not the same person you were… back when. Time to let go and re-write a new story.

• Grace. If I could tell myself anything when I was trying to figure out how to be happy raising four daughters as a single mom, it would be to have more grace. We are doing a really good job most of the time. Own it. Give yourself tons and tons of grace. You can’t over do it!

• Invest in you. So many times we over invest in the potential of people, places or things. We have difficulty in letting go or at the very least investing just as heavily into ourselves. Self care is the foundation to getting anywhere. You want to be happy? Stop looking at the guy, the girl, the paycheck or the party life. Go inward invest in what makes you happy. Try a Mani/Pedi, a cool course, a new fitness routine, coaching, massage or whatever feels good. The most important thing is for you to feel good.

• Appreciate what you have. We really do have some amazing cool things that we can be in gratitude. Look for them.

Music is one of the deepest forms of expression I crave in this life. One of my favorite albums of all time is “The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me” by Brand New. Not only do I really dig how beautiful the lyrics are written, but the title always stood out to me. How profound is that statement? I connected with this idea so deeply. Whether or not we want to admit it, there lies a deep darkness and bright light inside us all. This all differs depending on each person and the journey they choose. I see this idea of good and evil in every aspect of life. Disney movies has a villain and a hero, your parents taught you good vs bad, hell.. there is even Santa vs the Grinch. So why does this theme find us in every area of life?

There truly is a contrast within us all. We have the choice of which side we will pick. Here is the thing… We have been told that they are only two choices. We are either a good person, or a bad person. But what if it wasn't that simple? I mean where does the rest of us go? It’s not like when we choose either side the other one dies. I see so many “spiritual” people choosing to live in “ONLY LOVE AND LIGHT” but the thing is, shoving a piece of you down that you don't feel is “worthy enough” doesn't feel very good. The most important thing in this life is that we feel good. I look up to my mentor Esther Hicks so much. She is the channel for Abraham which in simple terms is source energy. We are able to connect to that energy and manifest our deepest desires. That is where our alignment with purpose comes. The thing I love most about her teachings is her emphasis on vibration and feeling. This has influenced the way I teach and I resonate so deeply with the feeling side. So let’s revisit the idea of choosing only love and light and shoving the other piece of our soul down. In theory this is a beautiful idea, HOWEVER… Feelings don't lie. Just because you are hiding that version of you, the feelings attached to it will always resurface if it is not dealt with. If manifesting is centered all around feeling good, and under the surface you are feeling bad about your contrast, you will manifest more of the unhappy feelings.

YOU ARE BOTH LIGHT AND DARK.

BE FUCKING REAL.

That means AUTHENTICITY. Facing the fear dead in the eye, and showing compassion and acceptance for all parts of your beautiful soul that make you so unique. The beautiful part is that it doesn't matter where you have been. I have been religious goody two shoes Kayla and I have been rebellious rock and roll queen Kayla. Who am I today? I am the Kayla that embraces every inch of my journey. I love my mistakes. I will be sharing my journey with you and showing you how I embraced each side of the contrast. It’s funny, what people love to hear about most are my mistakes. It’s what makes the destination of my journey so inspiring to others.

Today I want to offer you some hope. You can and will find peace and happiness in your soul. I have been to the depths of discontent and an overwhelming feeling of being lost. Through my journey of embracing both sides of who I can be I have found more confidence, purpose, and happiness than I ever could have imagined. You have everything you need in this moment. You are enough, and you are worthy of everything you can imagine. When mom and I do readings for people, we always preface by saying that this is just what is in your current energy. Things always change and you can shift your energy at any point. If you don't like something in your life or don't like what you see….. change it!!

You most definitely have magic surrounding you and you can create a life of your wildest dreams. When you can embrace the fact that you will never be perfect. Happiness is not found in perfection, it is found in true acceptance.

So today, feel good about your contrast. I love meeting people with wide contrast, those are the leaders of the modern world. We NEED the contrast. We need the depth. The contrast allows the good vibrations and feelings to expand bigger. It is always darkest before the dawn. The moon, the stars, all shine bright in the night sky. There is beauty in this life, there is beauty in your soul. Your modern soul family will be your support system and guide into how you can find YOUR authentic happiness.

7 W A Y S T O M A K E Y O U R H O M E A S A C R E D S P A C EHaving happy healthy energy in your home is so important to your own well being. Good feng shui is about organizing your home in a way that makes you feel good and adds to your life. It’s based on the idea that our homes are a mirror of what's happening inside us, The purpose of feng shui is to get your environment in alignment with who you are and where you want to go and what you want to attract into your life.

Did you know that you can attract romance, wealth and prosperity using feng shui to help the energy in your home to work for you. To start off, all you have to do is make small changes. You do not have to run out and change your whole house at once. Just find a room or part of your house and start there.

Everything is energy. That means everything. We can shift the energy in our homes if we do

not like how it feels now. Feng shui helps guide that energy and lets it flow freely through your home.

#1 Clean and organize your home. When we are thinking about too much our brains have a hard time focusing. If your home has “too much” going on, it may be time to clean, dust, and organize in a way that feels good. You will feel so much better living in a space that is clean and free of clutter.

#2 To add to the first step, let’s consider purging. Some of us are collectors. We collect memories, in the shape of belongings. Now is the time to purge and get rid of what no longer fits, no longer works, no longer feels good or for that matter looks good. We can let someone else be gifted with our clutter. If you have to have that item… take a picture and keep it as a reminder of the memory… and then let it go. Be free!

#3 So now that we have a clean organized canvas that is free of old and outdated “stuff” now we can take our time to make sure that everything works in your space. You want to make sure that appliance, outlets, lamps, furniture etc… is all in working order and not broken. You want the energy of abundance and prosperity and that requires energy that isn’t broken or not working. We want to have the best foundation possible.

#4 Shed light on dark corners in the home. Lighting activates energy. Dark areas in the house can represent neglected areas in your personal life. It is time to lighten up, literally!

#5 Bring nature into your space. Plants and flowers. The color green symbolizes growth, peace and harmony. Plants can be used in a room to reduce stress and promote peace, Color can make a powerful statement in your home and bring in that energy. If you are attracting love, bringing red roses or other red flowers is a great way to bathe that room in that energy. Time to go get some flowers!!!

#6 Make sure you have comfortable seating. There should be a comfortable seat for each family member and furniture should be arranged to facilitate conversations and improve flow of chi. The primary piece of furniture should be able to see the door while sitting and your back should be protected from behind. Your family and guests want to feel good sitting. Just like when you go to a restaurant, notice where people sit, they want to feel safe, have a good view and be able to connect.

#7 Create the mood. Candles and scents help to add to the ambiance and the flow of chi in your home. It is another way to add another layer of items that make you feel good and those around you as well.

Modern Girls want to feel good in their space. Even if you start out a section at a time, it will be worth the effort and investment.

ALMOND STRAWBERRY SMOOTHIE

1 tablespoon raw almond butter 3 raw walnuts 1 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk 1/2 cup frozen strawberries 1/4 avocado 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger root 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 tablespoon of hemp seeds 3 ice cubes

blend together until creamy aprox 2 minutes

(from 10 day detox)BLUEBERRY CHIA SMOOTHIE

1/2 cup frozen blueberries 1/2 cup frozen cranberries 1/4 organic lemon 1 tablespoon pumpkin seeds 1 tablespoon chia seeds 1 tablespoon hemp seeds 2 raw walnuts 2 raw brazil nuts 1/4 avocado 1/2 tablespoon extra virgin coconut butter 1 / 2 c u p u n s w e e t e n e d vanilla almond milk 1/2 cup water

blend together until creamy aprox 2 - 5 minutes

1 slice of ezekiel bread 1/2 avocado pinch of sea salt pinch of chili pepper flakes organic lime juice organic olive oil

Recently I posted on Facebook that I was moving to live by the ocean. On old supervisor left a comment that I was the epitome of making my dreams come true. That really stuck with me. The reality is that I was the poster child for most of my life for the complete opposite. I had a hard life. I believed it. I said it. I owned it. AND… I experienced it. So what happened in the last four years that turned my entire life upside down to where now I live my dream life?

I had to let go of the old story. I had really practiced it. I was a single mother of four daughters. I had a crazy ex that made my life harder than it needed to be. I worked for Child Protective Services investigating child abuse as a first responder. FOR A DECADE. Work was the perfect environment for complaining my way through life. This was a very fast moving train that was out of control in the opposite direction of what I wanted for my life. I felt completely alone and wondering when it was going to finally be my turn. I had many midnight tantrums being angry at God for at my life. Did I mention that I was a die hard church going soul.

I was introduced into the world of energy. At the time I didn’t understand this. I learned that there was consequences for deeply entrained thought of negativity. I slowly began challenging my thoughts and trying to put a positive spin. Then reality would hit and I would have another meltdown… I know I need to be positive but everything really felt like shit.

Next I learned about the idea of being “real wood“ as Kayla likes to say. The reality was uncomfortable for sure, but as I learned to go deep into the fears and pain and give them a voice, they released. I didn’t have to fear messing up all the hard work I had done to “be positive” by feeling my feelings.

The realization that I could feel the entire planet’s feelings really threw me into left field. I had to learn how to manage my own energy, stop feelings everyone else’s energy so that I could show up strong in my own shoes. No more roller coaster ride through emotions. I finally had my footing and it felt amazing. I learned to detach from old stories. I learned to turn off and on my sensitivity as I needed. I was finally in control of my own energy.

There seems to be two sides in the beauty world. You are either stuck up and self centered or you are all about saving mother nature. I feel that we can be a bit of both. Modern Spirituality is all about feeling good. I have to tell you as a Leo, my hair is important to me and nothing feels better than getting my hair done.

Why can’t we rock green juice and kick ass heels? I love my heels. I love my nice pedicure happy feet in my heels. AND I drink green juice. There seems to be one or the other, we either find beauty outside or inside of ourselves. We can find beauty in both. When I do the work of busting through some self worth fears and rocking some new found confidence and happiness, I feel good on the inside. When I work really hard that same week on a fitness goal… aka “fitbit hell” I feel good on the outside. Beauty can be found in both. We can love ourselves for both.

Where we get off track… is when we compare. When we assign value to another progress over our own. We look around and we want it all. This creates a terrible wave of self hatred. We want this idea of perfection that isn’t real. When I look at another beautiful soul, I am interpreting her experience through my filters. I am assuming I know how it feels to be in her beautiful shoes… and it must be better than my experience.

How amazing it would be if we could honor the beauty we each hold in ourselves without the comparison bug. We each have something we can rock both inside and out. Stop looking around and notice your own beautiful soul.

Here is what happens with the comparison bug. Trust me I know, I have healed so many that come for coaching/mentoring and find out they have been hit with this particular brand of negative energy. We can collect these negative feelings directed our way to where we are really impacted. When we compare ourselves to another, there is an energy exchange, whether you feel it or do not feel it, it is real.

Now I feel bad about not being enough. And I have inadvertently triggered her to feel bad about having what I want. This is all usually on the subconscious level. And now we are creating a web of strings between the two of us with crappy feelings. When we can celebrate a n o t h e r w o m a n ’ s b e a u t y a n d accomplishments, we add to each other’s happy tanks.

When we get triggered by another bright and shiny soul, this is an opportunity to go within and give a voice celebrating your own worth. Your soul will thank you for it. Your soul just wants a high five too from the most valuable person on the planet. You. xo Traci
