The Modine Brazil Technical Center conducts performance and durability tests for heat transfer components, modules or systems. The Modine Brazil Tech Center is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and is audited for compliance with the laboratory requirement sections of ISO/IATF 16949:2016 as a remote location, providing test services for our manufactured products. The total Modine Brazil Laboratory areas is 950m2, divided in two major types of test capabilities which have been established for the purpose of ensuring design adequacy for the intended use.
• Thermal Test Lab:
The primary activity of this laboratory is heat exchanger calorimetry. The laboratory provides a variety of stable fluid inputs with flow rate, temperature, and pressure control to establish the fundamental thermodynamic characteristics of heat exchangers and systems (e.g. engine cooling radiators, air to air coolers, air cooled oil cooler and liquid cooled oil coolers).
• Structural Test Lab:
These laboratories are used to assess durability and reliability of components and assemblies under a variety of loading scenarios. Tests include pressure cycle, thermal cycle, single-axis vibration, hydrostatic burst test, cold aging, field data acquisition and others.

THERMAL TEST LAB The Modine Brazil thermal laboratory deals with single phase heat transfer using a calorimeter to support product development, quality control and validation activities. It provides water, cold and hot air and oil as stable fluids inputs with flow, temperature, and pressure control to establish the fundamental thermodynamic characteristics of heat exchangers and systems (e.g. engine cooling radiators, air and liquid cooled oil coolers, charge air coolers, shell and tube heat exchangers, etc.). Information regarding operational ranges and control capability can be found below:

VIBRATION The single axis is used to simulate a field-operating environment or a defined vibration profile requirement. The test procedure is generally used to evaluate durability of systems and components under the mixed loading encountered in the field. The Structural lab has two hydraulic single axles tables, able to run time-domain and frequency-domain signals. Those tables have the following features:

High Frequency Vibration: is used to simulate a field-operating environment or a defined vibration profile requirement. The Structural lab has one High Frequency Vibration table, able to dwell, random-on-random, sine-on-random, and sine-on-random capabilities. Real Data Acquisition and Playback (RDAP). PRESSURE CYCLE Low Pressure Cycle –Glycol
Low Pressure – Liquid Pressure Cycle test rigs are used to simulate in accelerated tests, the operational pressure cycling in Radiators and surge tanks, evaluating welding, brazing, clamping, tanks pressure resistance and others. Chamber fan can draw ambient air across the core Gas Fired Heated/Chilled Water Cool Cooled air through the core. Temperature range: 110°F to 600°F (43 – 316ºC) Frequency: .0083 to .015 Hz, (1 min/Cycle - 20 min/cycle) Ramp from 120 to 500 F (49 - 260 C) in less than 120 sec. at Charge Air Cooler INLET. Charge air Mass flow: 25 to 35 lbs./min (11 - 16 kg/min) during Hot cycle the flow can varies
during the heating up phase, total flow during the Cold Cycle. Leak Test by pressure decay measurement at set intervals. - Stop at specific pressure.
Monitor for Pressure loss below specific pressure. Data Storage: Frequency and storage time are configurable.
