WHAT IS CHART?

A chart is a visual representation of numeric values, charts also known as graphs.

Charts and graphs are a great way of representing your data in graphical form for perfect analysis,A good chart should both explain and arouse curiosity. A chart can summarize thousands of datapoints into a single picture. The arrangement of a chart should explain the underlying data but

also enable the reader to isolate trouble spots worthy of further analysis.

Excel makes it easy to create charts. But although the improvements in Excel 2007 allow you tocreate a chart with only a few mouse clicks, it still takes thought to find the best way to present your data.

Microsoft Excel supports many kinds of charts to help you display data in ways that are meaningful to your audience. When you use the Chart Wizard to create a chart — or when you use the Chart Type command to change an existing chart — you can easily select the type you want from a list of standard or custom chart types

When you use the Chart Wizard to create a chart — or when you use the Chart Type command to change an existing chart — you can easily select the type you want from a list of standard or custom chart types

Use to…

Illustrate a trend across a set of categories or time

Illustrate a single data set or compare values of multiple data sets across same set of categories

Illustrate one ore more trends over time (i.e. categories should be a unit of time such as hours, days, months, years, and so on)

Illustrate the contribution of each value in the data set to a total. Number of values in the data set should be minimal (approximately less than 10)

Illustrate the dependence of one set of values (Y) on another (X)

a Stock chart is most often used to illustrate the fluctuation of stock prices. However, this chart may also be used for scientific data. For example, you could use a Stock chart to indicate the fluctuation of daily or annual temperatures.

Illustrate a trend in values across two dimensions in a continuous curve
