From the Director's Desk

Welcome to the holidays at Mohler

Center. We enjoy so much of the season

here, including our annual trip to Hotel

Hershey, our visit by Helping Hands stu-

dents, and our socials with entertainment

that puts everyone in the holiday spirit.

One more way for us to commemorate the

season is by publishing our annual “wish

list”. For those members wanting to give

back to the center that is so much a part of

their life, we offer this list of must haves.

By getting these items donated, we are

able to curb out of pocket costs on those

things we use the most.

Wish list: 2017

forever stamps, decaf coffee, bottled

water, cases of paper towels, cases of

toilet paper, white copy paper, tissues

Thanks to all who support our mission.

We wish all our members and supporters a

very happy holiday season!

Holiday Closings coming up...

Thanksgiving holiday we are closed on

Thursday, 11/23 & Friday, 11/24.

Christmas holiday we are closed from

Monday, 12/25 through Monday, 1/1.

We will reopen on Tuesday, January 2.

Are You Good with Numbers & Enjoy People?

The Mohler Center AARP Tax-Aide Program in-

vites you to utilize your skills in preparing taxes

free of charge for senior citizens in the Hershey

area. If you have prior experience in doing your

own taxes or helping others, please consider be-

coming a volunteer tax preparer. IRS self-study

training is provided starting in November, taking

about 30 hours to complete, which includes

passing an IRS test.

In January 2018, mandatory formal training

classes (3 days) will be conducted at the Mohler

Center. Computer skills are also required since all

tax returns are completed electronically. Tax

preparation will begin February 2nd and end on

April 15th. An average commitment of 10 hours

per week is requested to help meet our

appointment schedules.

If you just enjoy meeting people and would like

to welcome our clients as they arrive, then the

greeter position is for you. Self- study materials

will be provided and passing a simple 10 question

test is required. In January, 2018 we will meet for

2 hours to review your test answers and go over

any questions. Total training time is 8 hours and

we ask for a weekly commitment of 6 hours

during tax season. If you have questions or wish

to volunteer for the Mohler Center Tax-Aide

Program, please call Anne Shadis at 717-433-1581

by November 30th.

We will post weather related closing and

delay info on WHP 21, ABC 27

(www.whtm.com), and WGAL 8

(www.wgal.com). You may also call the

center (717-533-2002) and listen to message

after 7:30AM each morning.
