ABOUT THE COLLEGEShri Mathuradas Mohota College of Science, Nagpur is run by Nagpur ShikshanMandal (NSM)

established in 1949, is one of the reputed and prestigious organizations in Nagpur. The college isaffiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur since 1967-68. The collegeoffers basic programmes with wide academic flexibility of subject combinations at undergraduatelevel in Science faculty. All the programmes are directed towards realization of our mission andachieving our objectives. The college is among top colleges in central India.

The Junior College was initiated from 1976.

The college imparts science education to the students who come from urban as well as ruralareas in Vidarbha and from states around Maharashtra. The college provides safe and conduciveatmosphere with excellent teaching learning faculty. The management of the college with the assis-tance of the faculty and supporting staff is committed to the progress of the college.

The teaching faculty of the college is well qualified and are carrying out good quality researchas well. The management of the college is always positively inclined towards quality of educationand research. The college has collaborated with other institutes in India and abroad for organizinginternational conferences. In the last few years, we have also efficiently organized seminars andworkshops for the academic upliftment of the faculty.

Recently, Chemistry and Physics laboratories have been recognized as ‘‘Place for Higher Learn-ing and Research’’ by R. T. M. Nagpur University, Nagpur. Major and minor research projects havebeen sanctioned to the faculty members by various funding agencies.

The college has made further progress as regards the academic, co-curricular and extracurricularactivities. The students of the college have received accolades and brought laurels by representingthe university at various national level cultural events. In addition to undergraduate courses, thecollege also offers postgraduate courses in Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and Botany. Thecollege has initiated career oriented programmes and short term certificate courses as well.

Our management, teaching faculty and the supporting staff strives for all-round development of thestudents. We continuously try to recognize and unfold the talent of the students by giving them therequired assistance and most needed environment for transforming a person into personality.

Some Sailent Features*To creat healthy and physically fit body to students, our college provides opportunity to participatein variety of sports and aquatics where students can show their talent and calibre.This year our college organized Inter college Swimming competitions and our college recievedchampions trophy out of 97 colleges.* Mr. Sarthak Dhurve won Gold Medal At National level Swimming - water polo competition.* Gold Medal at National Yoga tournament was won by Ms. Kalyani Chute at Durg.Other than these sports Dept. of our college organized Iner college Volly ball, Kabaddi, Swimming,Diving and water polo tournament.

PROSPECTUSFor Junior College 2019-2020

1. THE COLLEGE SESSION :The College reopens after summer vacation on Saturday, the 15th June 2019 at 10-30 a.m.Classes will start from 15th June 2019

2. ADMISSION :The College follows on-line admission procedure of Education Dept., Govt. of Maharashtra.

A) An application for admission to Class XI / XII of Junior College is to be made in the prescribed formsupplied with the Prospectus obtainable from the college office on payment of Rs. 100/- only. The Formmust be filled in candidate's own handwriting and duly attested by his/her father or legal guardian.Application form should be accompanied by :(i) Rs. 20/- Registration fee (non-refundable)(ii) Certified copy of School Leaving Certificate.(iii) Certified copy of Mark-list of S.S.C. Examination.(iv) Caste certificate (For Students belonging to S.C./S.T., N.T., V.J., O.B.C. and SP.B.C. Categories)(v) Income certificate from gazetted officer of State Govts. (For students claiming freeship/scholarship)The reservation of seats for Backward classes and Physically handicapped students will be made asper Government directives.

B) QUALIFICATIONS FOR ADMISSION :a) F.Y.J.C. (Class XI) -For admission to this class a student should have passed S.S.C. Examination of M.S. Board ofSecondary Education or an equivalent examination recognised by the Board and must have obtainedmore than 40% marks in Science Subjects. "Mathematics" is not treated as Science Subject for thispurpose.

C) MODE OF ADMISSION :Students allotted by on-line committee will only be admitted, as per their schedule.The students admittedto College will be required to produce the originals of School Leaving Certificate and Mark-List of S.S.C.Examination passed by them and also pay the necessary fees before the prescribed dates. In case offailure to do so applicants will lose their claim for admission. The original School Leaving Certificate will beretained by the College for its permanent record. The original mark list will however be returned afterverification. Outside Maharashtra State Board Students will have to submit Provisional Eligibility certificatefrom Nagpur Board.

3. SUBJECT :

Instruction is provided for the following subjects through the medium of English. The students willing totake admission in class XI will have to offer following subjects :

The students of this College who were studying in class XI and are promoted to class XII having passed theAnnual Examination of class XI will not be required to pay the admission fee. However outside students willhave to pay the admission fee. The girl students are not required to pay Tuition fee, Laboratory fee, Termfee & Admission fee, provided they submit girls freeship form within one month from date of admission. Thestudents offering Electronics / Computer Science / Firshery will have to pay additional fee prescribed inClass XI and Class XII.

5. REFUND OF DEPOSITS :The deposits for Laboratory and Library will be refunded to all the students from 1st of August of thenext session. They should submit an application for refund of deposits to the Principal after getting itcountersigned by their father or legal guardian. The amount to be refunded will be arrived at afterdeducting all the uncleared dues of the College. The deposits remained unclaimed for 3 years will standforfeited to the college.

6. REFUND OF FEES :If the student informs the College that he wants to withdraw and that he can not continue his educationfor any reason, the admission fee, term fee, laboratory fee paid by the student will be retained by thecollege and the students will have to pay tuition fee up to the end of the month in which he applies forleaving College. The Laboratory and Library deposits will be refunded to him.

7. ATTENDANCE :In order to qualify for appearing for the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination conducted by theMaharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education a student must remainpresent in the College for not less than 75% of the working days and complete the prescribed coursein physical education.Fine of Rs. 20/- for each day will be imposed on a student who absent himself from College without leave.Students will be marked absent for full day if they remain absent even in one lecture during the day.Application submitted for the purpose of leave should be countersigned by the father or guardian.Medical leave application should be accompanied by a medical certificate.Leave or absence will be entirely at the students' own risk and a certificate of any kind will not condonea deficiency in attendance.Application for leave must be submitted within three days from the last day of the leave period. Applicationsreceived later than this will not be considered at all.

8. (a) FEES FOR LEAVING AND OTHER CERTIFICATESNo fees will be charged for a College Leaving Certificate if asked for by the students within a year fromthe date of leaving the College or from the date of the result of the public examination for which thestudent appeared from the College. After this period fees of Rs. 20/- only will be charged for everysubsequent year, subject to a maximum of Rs. 500/-Rs. 50/- will be charged for each of the following certificates(i) Date of birth certificate(ii) Attempt certificate of each examination(iii) Any other certificate

Attested copies of the certificates submitted by the student at the time of admission will be issuedon payment of Rs. 5/- only for each certificate submitted.

(b) ISSUE OF DUPLICATE COLLEGE LEAVING CERTIFICATEThe student requiring a duplicate copy of the College leaving Certificate should state in writing as towhat happened to the original certificate already issued and why a duplicate is required. He will have tomake an affidavit before a stipendiary magistrate, in case the reasons given by the students are notfound satisfactory. The student will have to pay fees of Rs. 50/- only for duplicate copy per year fromdate of leaving the college.

9. LIBRARY & READING ROOM :The normal library facilities are provided to students. The College has made provision for separateReading Room. It subscribes to various Magazines and News Papers.There are about 3346 books on all science subjects, Literature and Languages in the College Library forJunior College. Total number of books are 33596.

10. CYCLE STAND :

Provision has been made for cycle stand for the use of students with a caretaker. Students bringingbicycles, scooters to the College shall keep them on the cycle stand & nowhere else and pay thenecessary charges to the contractor. The students should lock their vehicles. The contractor will not beresponsible for loss of unlocked vehicles from cycle stand. No cognizance of any loss of vehicle will betaken if the vehicle is kept outside the cycle stand.

11. IDENTITY CARD :

Fresh Identity Cards shall be issued for each session. Every bonafide student of the College whenattending the College or any function shall keep the identity card, with him. If any student is found incollege premises without Identity Card, he is liable for being fined.

Those students, who have lost their identity Card will be issued fresh Identity Card-on payment of 50/-only after they have satisfied the College authorities, that they have really lost the identity card.

All the Students admitted to college shall present themselves for Physical Efficiency Test beforethe Committee of Examiners on such dates and at such time as may be fixed by the Principal.

If a student fails to present himself for physical efficiency test without sufficient cause, he will befined Rs. 100/-

12. MEDICAL EXAMINATIONEvery student on the roll of the College according to the University rules, must present himself for

medical inspection before the Medical Officer appointed by the College on such date as may be fixed by theMedical Officer in consultation with Principal. The Medical inspection of the students will be held in thepremises of the College once in each academic year.

A student who remains absent from Medical Examination at the appointed date and time withoutany sufficient cause shall be liable to pay to the College an extra medical examination fees of Rs. 100/- orsuch smaller amount as the Principal may fix before he is examined.

If a student fails to present himself for medical inspection without sufficient cause even after re-peated opportunities, he will have to pay fine of Rs. 100/- only.

13. PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND RECREATION OF STUDENTS

The Home Examinations, Unit Tests, Terminal and Test of the college will be held on the dates fixed bythe College Council. Every student must appear in all these examinations.Absentees without prior permission will have to pay a fine of Rs. 50/- per paper. Students securingmarks less than 35% will also be fined and their names will be reported to their Parents/Guardians.The following categories of students may get exemption as per the rules made by the College Council.a) A Student claiming exemption on medical ground, requests exemption should produces a medical

certificate from any one of the medical officers appointed by the college.b) Any other ground as per the discretion of the Principal that enables the student to claim exemption.

All the students of the college should observe the rules of the conduct framed by the college from timeto time.1. The students are directly answerable to discipline committee and the principal for their behaviour in

general both inside and outside the college.2. The students should behave respectfully with their teachers and politely with their fellow students. Any

Act of ragging disobedience, improper and discourteous exchange of words, use of filthy language orthe passing of an indecent remarks specially at the girl students is a punishable offence and will beviewed seriously.

4. Smoking and Chewing tobaco in classroom or college premises is strictly prohibited.5. Students should follow the dress code strictly.6. The use of mobile phone in college premises is strictly prohibited.7. Any change either in the local or permanent address of the student should be informed to the Admission

Clerk so that normal contact with him/her is not hampered.

16. RULES OF CONDUCT BY STUDENTS

8. No student shall directly send anything concerned with the college for publication either to press orelsewhere without the prior approval and the necessary permission from the Principal of the college,nor shall approach the President or the L.M.C. Members except through the college Principal. Anybreach of the rule may lead to outright expulsion of the student from the college.

9. The students should see the "NOTICE BOARD" daily for various notices that may be put from time totime.

10. No student shall bring any companion with him/her who is not a student of this college.11. The students will leave the college premises as soon as their classes are over.12. No excursions or tours shall be arranged by the students without the prior written permission of the

principal. The attention of the parents / guardians is specially invited to the fact that they should notpermit their sons / daughters / wards to take part in the tour unless they confirm about the permissionaccorded by the Principal.There shall be no social gathering, association or committees of any sort in the college.

13. The student shall also not invite guests or arrange their lectures on their own initiative.14. The student remaining absent without prior intimation in writing are liable to be fined.15. The Principal reserves the right to remove from the college roll, the name of any student for -

i) Failure to pay the college dues.ii) Failure to come up to the academic standard. (progress and attendance).iii) Conduct which in the opinion of principal is unsatisfactory.iv) For any act of indiscipline.

16. Students shall observe all safety precautions. The college is not responsible for accidents of whatevernature in the college, hostel, laboratory, playground and during tour or trips.

The decision of the Principal shall be final in the matters pertaining to discipline and penaltiesimposed on those breaking the rules and undermining discipline in the College.

STUDENT FREESHIP

The following freeships awarded by the State Govt. are made available to students. The studentsawarded freeship under these schemes must remain present on 75% of the working days and attendP.T. Classes. They must show satisfactory progress in their studies. Failure to do so will result inwithdrawal of the freeship. In such cases, the students shall have to pay full fees to the College.

a) Freeship to Economically Backward Class students : The eligible students should apply to thePrincipal in the prescribed form within 30 days from the date of their admission to the College andobtain receipt.

b) Freeship to the sons & daughters of Primary School Teachers and Higher Secondary SchoolTeachers : The eligible students should submit their application in the prescribed form in the Collegeoffice within 30 days from the date of their admission to the College and obtain receipt.

c) Freeship awarded to Backward class students who have failed once only and repeating the samecourse of study and to fresh Backward class students who are not in receipt of Govt. of India Scholar-ship awarded by the Divisional Social Welfare Officer, Nagpur.

d) Freeship to the Children of Service Personnels.

e) G.O.I. Scholarship Holders should open S.B. account in the month of September in any bank.

IMPORTANT RULES FOR FREESHIP UNDER THE

E. B. C., SCHEME (INCOME BELOW RS. 2,50,000/-)

The students applying for freeship under the E.B.C. Scheme of the State Govt. must submit theirapplications in the prescribed form along with the Income Certificate from a Gazetted Officer of State Govt.not below the rank of Tahshildar, or class II officer of any department. Persons in service should submitIncome Certificate from employer, President of MpI. Committee, Sarpanch etc. (for the students whoseParent's ordinary place of residence is in rural area with a population below 10,000) to the College OfficeWITHIN 30 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF THEIR ADMISSION TO THE COLLEGE AND OBTAINRECEIPT. They should also submit xerox copy of Ration Card.

The students coming from outside the State of Maharashtra and the students whose father orguardian reside outside the State of Maharashtra are not entitled to this freeship.

In case the E.B.C. applications are signed by mother when father is alive the circumstances inwhich the father could not sign the application along with the information on the following points should besubmitted by the students & attached to this application.

1. Full name of the father

2. Occupation and address.

3. Annual income from all sources for previous year.

In case where the application is signed by a person other than father/mother when alive, the proce-dure mentioned above should be followed.

In case of legal separation of father and mother, an affidavit to this effect should be submitted andattached to his / her application.

Only a major student (age above 18 years) can get freeship under this scheme, provided he is a selfguardian, in such cases the date of birth certificate should invariably be furnished alongwith the E. B. C.application to see whether he is minor/major.

In case the student seeks admission after a lapse of some time, a Gap Certificate to the effect thathe did not join any Educational Institution prior to his admission in this institution should be submitted andattached to the application.

The students should take a specific care that the income shown in the E.B.C. form is thesame as shown by him / her in his application for admission.

SCHOLARSHIPS / FREESHIP

The following Scholarships awarded by State Government are made available to the students. Thestudents awarded Scholarship under these schemes must remain present on 75 percent of the workingdays and attend P. T. Classes. They must show satisfactory progress in their studies, failure to do sowill result in withdrawal of Scholarship.

(i) National Scholarship

(ii) Rajshree Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Scholarship for SC, SBC & NT students of XI class having 75% marks in SSC Exam.

(iii) Freeship to the Children of Primary & Secondary School Teachers.

(iv) Government of India Scholarship to B.C. Students.

(v) Government Open Merit Scholarship.

(vi) Freeship to the Children of Freedom Fighters

(vii) Freeship to E. B. C. students.

(viii) Scholarship to Minority Students.

S. C. Courses is implementedby the Director of Social Welfare, Maharashtra State, Pune. All the Backward Class students andNav-Buddhas formerly belonging to Scheduled Caste undertaking approved Post S. S. C. Course areconsidered eligible for the Govt. of India Scholarship with the following exceptions :-

Condition of Eligibility

1. The students failing in the Term/Annual examination are not considered eligible for the scholarships.One failure is however condoned in respect of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes students pursuingMedical and Engineering courses.

2. i) The income limit is Rs. 1,00,000/- annually for NT, OBC, SBC and For SC, ST students the incomelimit is Rs.2,00,000/- annually.

ii) The students whose guardians / Family income is beyond above said limit should apply for freeshipwithin 15 days from date of admission.

iii) Students who are in full time employment will not be eligible for Scholarships.

iv) Only two children of the same Parents / Guardians will be entitled to receive Scholarships.

v) No freeship if income is above 6,00,000/- for OBC / NT / SBC, No Limit for S.C. Students.

vi) EBC Open Students 6,00,000/- Income Limit.

Fees :

The students who are eligible for Government of India Scholarship will not be required to pay fees whichare of compulsory nature.

PROCEDURE FOR SUBMISSION OF FORM FOR

G. O. I. SCHOLARSHIP

All Backward class students and the students coming under the Lower Income Groups should apply forthe Govt. of India Scholarship in the prescribed form through their respective Colleges in the month of Julyonly. The application forms will be made available to them from the office. All the students should be vigilantenough to fill in the forms complete in all respect and any omission or incorrect, false information is apt todisqualify them for the above Scholarship. The students having gap in their education should invariably filea court affidavit declaring as to what they were doing in the intervening period.

2. "Murkute Memorial Prize" for obtaining the highest number of marks in Chemistry at H.S.C. Examination.

3. "Late V.L. Mutatkar Prize" for obtaining highest number of marks in Mathematics at H.S.C.Examination.

4. ''Late Shrikrishna Ramchandrarao Gade Prize'' for obtaining highest number of marks in Physics atH.S.C. Examination.

5. ''Smt. Kusumtai Shrikrishna Gade Prize'' for obtaining highest number of marks in Electronics at H.S.C.Examination.

6. ''Late Shri M.C. Dhawale Memorial Prize'' For obtaining highest number of Marks in Botany at H.Sc.Examination.

7. ''Late Smt. Laxmibai Ramaji Dangre Memorial Prize for obtaining highest number of marks in Mathematicsof H.S.C. Examination by a girl student.''

8. Ex-Principal ''Dr. T.S.V. Naidu Prize for highest number of marks in subject Biology at H.S.C. Examination.'
