Sweet Friends- The holidays are rapidly approaching and it’s the time of year when we really try to teach our children the meaning of being thankful. We focus on reading them stories, doing fun crafts, and other activities to help them learn how to express their gratitude. We work all of this into the already insane busyness

that are the months of November and December. Between cooking, shopping and holiday dinners, we somehow carve out time to make sure our children know the real reason behind the celebrations. But sadly, often times we forget to check the condition of our own hearts. Friends, I speak from experience when I tell you that in past years, I’ve successfully cooked Thanksgiving dinner, I’ve bought every gift on my Black Friday shopping list, and I’ve attended every holiday party to which we were invited, but I never once prepared my own heart for the Thanksgiving holiday. I never made a point to sit down at the feet of my Lord and simply thank Him for the gifts He’s given me. I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of rushing through the holidays. I’m tired of being too busy to notice the gifts all around me. Let’s make this year different. Instead of teaching our children, let’s learn with them. Instead of focusing solely on the condition of their hearts, let’s examine our own. For the next twenty five days, end each day with this book and a private meeting with Jesus. You’ll start by reading a Scripture verse about gratitude, followed by a period of recalling and recording God’s blessings from the day. Then, you’re provided with a space to write a specific, deliberate prayer in which you thank God for the blessings you recorded and then confidently ask Him for whatever it is you need that particular evening. After all, He tells us to ask and we shall receive. Maybe you’ve never prayed specific prayers like this before, but for these 25 days, take God at His word and ask Him for what you need, knowing that He can and will provide you with exactly what you need when you need it. At the end of your prayer time, spend some quiet time in reflection, letting God speak to your heart and then record any thoughts or doodles in the provided journaling space.


I promise you at the end of these 25 days, you won’t be the same person you were when you began this journey. Are you with me? Are you ready for a completely different holiday experience this year? Fill every single blank space with a blessing God has given you, and tell me, have you ever seen anything more amazing?

Congratulations! You’ve made a point of spending the last 25 days preparing your heart for the holidays. I know your heart and mind have been transformed through this precious time with Jesus. This holiday season will be a new experience and I encourage you to continue your time with Him and His word. As you reflect on the past 25 days, what are three areas of your life that have been transformed? How have you seen Jesus at work in your life? How have your holiday preparations been different this year than in the past? Heavenly Father, Thank you so much for desiring a personal relationship with us. Thank you for loving us too much to leave us the way we are. The past twenty five days have brought me closer to you and I’m so very grateful for our time together. Lord, as we enter into the holiday season, I ask that you keep your hand on me. Pull me close to you when I start to go astray. Bless my family and friends with love and peace as we enter into this special time of the year. Lord, continue to prepare my heart to receive the blessings that you will pour upon me. In your holy name I pray, Amen.
