I do hope this finds you and your families well and continuing to cope in these challenging times. So the Premiership and Championship have started again - I hope you are pleased with how your team has performed! As a Leeds fan I was gutted to sit and watch them lose yesterday and am hopeful that next week will bring better results! It is now only 3 weeks until the summer holidays start - I cannot believe how rapidly time has flown by. We have had a fantastic week with year 10 coming into school, do read the comments from some of the students and look at the pictures which show what a positive experience it was for all of them. If your son/ daughter didnt come in we do have space still, please get in touch to book a place for them. I shared a quote with all of the Year 10 students when they came in: Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.(Carl Bard). I know some students have excelled with their remote learning, but others have found it very difficult. What I would say to anyone who is struggling start from now, complete the work you are set through to the end of term and as the quote says you will make a brand new ending. On another note the government has said that we can get other year groups into school before the end of term. We are looking at all students coming into school for a consultation to see their form tutor to support them with their learning and their well being. We will be in touch with you this week about how we are going to do this. I do hope if you are in Years 7-9 that you have received your sunflowers seeds and you have planted them and are seeing them growing. I have got mine into big flower pots now and am getting excited about seeing them grow! Do send in photos of them so we can see the different stages of their growth. . I continue to be very proud of my school and the community and continue to thank you for all your support through this challenging time. I have been so impressed with the way that you have all tried to make the best of a difficult situation. Keep shining brightlyby working hard and supporting others. If you need any support in any way please do contact central- [email protected] or phone the school during school hours. I pray that you and your families stay well and you know peace and hope at this difficult time. Week

I hope you are all well and safe. Thank you to those of you who have downloaded Studybugs - this app is a faster way for you to report your child’s absence from school moving forwards - it means that you will not have

to phone in if your child is absent but rather report it on the app. The link follows if you need it - https://studybugs.com/about/parents. Although there are

many videos about online safety, now there's a chance to help create one of your own! - Have a look at if you are feeling creative - https://www.childnet.com/resources/film-competition/2020 In the meantime, please continue to follow the safeguarding advice that you know - the rules are simple, you have to follow the same rules online as you would in the real world - the following link from New Zealand has some great advice and videos to help you and your child https://www.keepitrealonline.govt.nz/ If you have any concerns, please contact any member of staff or email [email protected] Keep safe, take care and hopefully see you in school soon.

Wellbeing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw5KQMXDiM4

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak means life has changed for us all. It may cause you to feel anxious, stressed, worried, sad, bored, lonely or frustrated. It's important to remember it is OK to feel this way and that everyone reacts differently – for most of us, these difficult feelings will pass. There are some simple things you can do to help you take care of your mental health and wellbeing during times of uncertainty. Doing so will help you think clearly, and make sure you are able to look after yourself and those you care about.

Top Tips for parents during Coronavirus (Covid 19)

Do not put too much pressure on yourself – this is a very new situation which will change frequently, we can only do our best. Be mindful of what you see on social media – every family is different.

As a family discuss and make a plan for the week or each day (stick to it as much as possible but do not worry if plan does not work, adapt to suit you and your family)

Find time to switch off - You will have days when you feel overwhelmed by what’s happening both at home and outside. Try to focus on each hour at a time and build in something to look forward to at the end of each task – like a cup of your favourite tea at the end of a home-schooling task, or playing your favourite music while you do the ironing

Share interests and hobbies, teach each other a new skill, share memories of the past and get involved in each other’s passions.

Stay connected:. Talk to friends and family, use video calls, meeting apps. Family Quiz night online?

Share the load

Remember to take time for yourself:. Even if just 20 minutes: a walk or run, a bath, time in the garden etc.

Do not be afraid to reach out for help (please see links below). Of course as a school we are here for you too. Please keep in touch.

It's Ok not to be Ok

Remote Learning Morning all,

I hope you are all safe and well. Rather than using your 'To do' list to keep a track of what work is due, it might be easier to use the Calendar instead. Here you can see all of the upcoming deadlines for the week (and beyond if you go forward) so it should be a more efficient way of organising your time to meet deadlines. The instructions are at the bottom of this email. As always, please do not complete missing work. Your teachers will still be setting work on days when you would normally see them so you will continue to get work set. Our advice is to always look forward. If you have missed a deadline for a particular subject, please focus on the next one and get it complete. If you are ever unsure about the instructions a teacher has given you, please email them and ask for a bit more clarity and they will be more than willing to help. If there are any issues with your remote learning at this time, please email me and I will see what I can do to help.

Mr. Scrimshire On the Classroom calendar, you can see classwork due dates. You can't add any items.

1. Go to the Google classroom through the school website.

2. At the top, click Menu .

3. Click Calendar.

4. Choose an option: To see past or future work, next to the date, click Back or Next .

To see assignments for all your classes, click All classes.

To see assignments for one class, click All classes select

the class.

5. To open classwork, click an assignment or question.

Follow us on social media to keep up to date with everything that’s happening.

Every Friday we will be doing ‘shout outs’ for students who are ‘Shining Bright’
