Doifode on Sunday chaired a public meeting to listen to the grievances of the people living in Doda and its adjoining areas. SSP Doda, Shabir Ahmed, ADDC Doda Mohammad Hanief Malik, ADC Doda Kishori lal, CPO Doda Parshotam Kumar, Superintendent Engineer PWD, Ex Engineer PDD, PWD, PHE, AD FCS&CA, President Municipal Committee Doda, other ward members, senior citizens, repre- sentatives of various political parties and social organisa- tions, media persons among others attended the meeting.. During the meeting, DDC was apprised about the demands of people related to R&B, FCS&CA, PMGSY, Education, Health, PDD, PHE etc. Various issues were highlight- ed by the participants regard- ing the recent snowfall in Doda and adjoining areas and appealed DDC Doda for early release of relief in favor of affected families. Moreover security of chil- dren studying outside the state, law and order situation of district, drug menace, bet- ter road connectivity to avoid accidents, to provide better essential services, requirement of Ayush hospital were also discussed. DDC Doda gave patient hearing to the visiting delega- tions and assured them time- ly redressal in a time bound manner. He also sought sup- port of the people of Doda in order to participate in the development of the district and to provide full cooperation to administration to maintain communal harmony, law and order in the district. DDC Doda said that the main agenda of the adminis- tration is to be responsive and quick in solving the issues of the people without any bias. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR : To bid farewell to outgoing Deputy Commissioner Udhamur Ravinder Kumar, a function was held by Jagriti Old Age Home Udhampur in col- laboration with Sanskar Sanskriti Manch branch Udhampur under able guidance of Dr. R C Nagar, President of the Old Age Home. The function was attend- ed by senior faculty and members of the old age home and Sanskar Sanskriti Manch including large number of people from civil society, Municipal Councilor and respectable citizens of the city. STATE TIMES NEWS POUNI: The meeting of executive members of Namaan Duggar Kala Manch Bhambla (Pouni) was held under the presidentship of Mohinder Sharma'Guddu' a renowned poet. The main agenda of the meeting was the overall development of NDKM Bhambla (Pouni) which is to promote Dogri, art and culture among the budding generation. Mohinder Sharma Guddu suggested to broaden the horizon of the Manch at vari- ous nooks and corners of the Zone which is possible by activating various units across the rural periphery. Kasturi Lal Sharma an active member of the NDKM suggested to organise the activities at regular interval of time so that coordination among the members of the Manch be enhanced. NDKM has also decided to launch a new innovative programme " Know Your Teacher" in which reputed teachers will be hon- oured before their students said Dharm Paul Sharma Bhamblia inspirer of NDKM. It was unanimously decided to rejuvenate NDKM units at Dharpur, Nahoti Langer, Kalidhar Amb,Jerri,Ransoo, Pouni and Reasi on the basis of annual calendar of the activities of NDKM. STATE TIMES NEWS RAMBAN: District Development Commissioner (DDC), Ramban Showkat Aijaz Bhat on Sunday toured at Batote area to review status of availability of essential commodities and restoration of essential services besides inspecting road clearance operations of Batote to Patnitop for ensuring petroleum prod- ucts supply to Valley besides obtaining public feedback from public in this regard. DDC was accompanied by the president MC Batote and officers of other departments. DDC informed that restoration work of water, power and road connectivi- ty was initiated on war footing in entire district. He also checked the avail- ability of Ration, LPG, Kerosene oil and other items and directed the con- cerned officers to ensure proper distribution at con- cerned depots. DC directed Tehsildar to access the loss of locals caused by the landslide at Amar chashma of Batote tehsil. He also interacted with the public at various places and heard their grievances, besides passing on spot directions for its redressal. He directed to all officers to stay in their headquar- ters besides mobilizing men and machinery to restore essential services. DDC took stock of road clearance operations of link roads besides restora- tion of electricity and water supply in affected areas and availability of essential commodities. He directed the con- cerned officers to restore all link roads as early as possible. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Members of NGO ' Jiyo Aur Jeene Do ' paid homage to the Pulwama Martyrs and also kept two minutes silence to pray for their souls. Later, President Tariq Shah chaired a meeting and discussion was held regard- ing various day to day issues with members. The main issues which were traffic jam, encroachment, poly- thene menace. Tariq in his address request all to stop the usage of poly- thene and help in making city a cleaner place. STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: A medical cum certificate camp was held at village Gabbar in Budhal Tehsil by Health Department of Block Kandi under the supervision of Dr. Sunil Sharma, Chief Medical Officer, Rajouri. A team of doctors Dr. Ghulam Qader, Dr. Yasser, Dr. Farooq Tatary, Dr. Jabeen Qumer and Mohd Latief Dar, CHO, Masood Ahmed and others paramedics pro- vided free consultations to people during the camp. Tests like BP, blood sugar, Blood Grouping, LFT, Hb, Lipid Profile etc. were offered free of cost in the camp. Dr. Iqbal Malik, Block Medical Officer, organizer of the camp said that they have been continuously organiz- ing such camp under the Public Service Grantee Act, since the last two years to provide the basic health services to the public at their doorstep in far-flung areas. According to CMO Rajouri Dr Sunil, about 223 patients with various dis- eases were examined and treated with free medicine and 211 certificates issued on the spot which includes Old age, Medical fitness, and disability besides aware- ness regarding sanitation, Save Girl Child, the benefit of institution Delivery, detail of Health Schemes was also imparted to Public. As per the details, Mahesh Kumar, resident of Udeywala lodged a complaint with police that he was out with his family and on returning back saw locks of the house broken and Rs 3 lakh missing from cash chest. In another incident, Kuldeep Gupta, resident of Chatha also lodged a similar complaint with Satwari Police in which he disclosed that jewellery and Rs 3 lakh have been stolen from his house. Meanwhile, Suman Sharma, resident of Bathindi lodged a complaint with Domana police that thieves took away jewellery from her house. Meanwhile, burglars also struck at two shops and decamped cash worth lakhs of rupees from border road area of Samba. Thieves targeted two cosmetic shops owned by Bushan Pargal, son of Rattan Chand, resident of Ward No 12 Samba and Varun Gupta son of Vijay Kumar, resident of Parel Samba and decamped with cash amounting to lakhs of rupees. Police has registered cases in all the incidents and started investigation. Two boys go missing STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A 13 years old boy went missing in Gandhi Nagar on Sunday. As per the details, Lakshmi Devi, resident of Nanak Nagar lodged a complaint with Gandhi Nagar Police that her son who went out of the house didn't return back. After searching him at relatives places, she found no clue about him. In another incident, Niwas Mishra, resident of Patoli Brahmana lodged a miss- ing complaint of his 17 years old son with Domana Police. Case of dowry harassment reported STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A dowry harassment case has been report- ed in Trikuta Nagar area on Sunday. As per the details, Isha Parveen, resident of Malik Market lodged a police complaint that her husband Mohd Adil along with his relatives is harassing her for dowry and had sent her to parental house on many occasions. She further disclosed that she was even beaten many times over the issue and later thrown out of the house. Police has registered a case in this regard and launched investigation. Man crushed to death, 3 arrested STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A man was crushed to death by a car on Sunday while police have detained three persons in this regard. As per the detail, a trucker who was helping another driver whose vehicle broke down was hit by a speeding car which was on its way to Pathankot. The injured was shifted to hospital where doctors declared him as brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Sham Singh, resi- dent of Pathankot. Later, police intercepted the car at the short dis- tance and detained all three occupants. They were identified as Munish Kumar, Mukesh and Sachin, all residents of Katra. Counter complaints filed in land dispute STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: A clash took place between two parties over a land dispute in Domana area in which both parties have lodged complaints against each other. As per the details, Shankar Singh, resident of Nagbani lodged a police complaint that he was attacked by Raj Singh, resident of Chack Peer. He also alleged that the assaulter snatched his goods. Later, Raj Singh also approached police and lodged a similar complaint against Shankar. Police has regis- tered cases on the complaint of both the parties and launched investigation. One held with heroin STATE TIMES NEWS JAMMU: Police on Sunday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 138 grams heroin from his possession. As per the details, Nowabad police on a tip off laid a Naka and intercepted a man. During his search police recovered 138 grams of heroin from his posses- sion. The accused identified as Adil Hussain, resi- dent of Shopian was arrested and a case under NDPS Act was registered against him. Motorcyclist killed, pillion rider injured STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: A motorcyclist was killed while pillion rider got injured in a road mishap at Samba on Sunday. Two persons who were on bike were hit by a truck near SIDCO Chowk, resulting into injuries to both. They were shifted to hospital where one of them was declared as brought dead by the doctors. The deceased has been identified as Balraj, son of Balkar Singh, resident of Gurdaspur. While injured namely Satveer Singh is under treatment in hospital. AGENCY NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a giant Bhagvad Gita, running into 670 pages and weigh- ing 800 kg, at the ISKCON temple here on February 26, officials said on Sunday. Dubbed the 'Astounding Bhagvad Gita', and meas- uring 2.8 m by 2 m, it is billed as the "world's largest sacred book", according to ISCKON. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), known colloquially as the Hare Krishna movement, is a worldwide confedera- tion of more than 400 tem- ples and runs 100 vegetar- ian restaurants and a wide variety of community serv- ing projects. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to unveil the 'Astounding Bhagvad Gita' on February 26 at the ISKCON Temple and Cultural Centre in East of Kailash in New Delhi," ISKCON said in a state- ment. The Prime Minister's Office said the prime min- ister will be attending the event on Tuesday. He will also address a gathering comprising spir- itual leaders, diplomats, social leaders, scholars along with devotees and members of ISKCON from around the world, the statement said. JAMMU: Thieves on Sunday struck at two hous-es in Domana and one at Satwari besides twoshops in Samba and decamped with lakhs ofrupees.

As per the details, Mahesh Kumar, resident ofUdeywala lodged a complaint with police that hewas out with his family and on returning back sawlocks of the house broken and Rs 3 lakh missingfrom cash chest.

In another incident, Kuldeep Gupta, resident ofChatha also lodged a similar complaint withSatwari Police in which he disclosed that jewelleryand Rs 3 lakh have been stolen from his house.Meanwhile, Suman Sharma, resident of Bathindilodged a complaint with Domana police thatthieves took away jewellery from her house.

Meanwhile, burglars also struck at two shops anddecamped cash worth lakhs of rupees from borderroad area of Samba.

Thieves targeted two cosmetic shops owned byBushan Pargal, son of Rattan Chand, resident ofWard No 12 Samba and Varun Gupta son of VijayKumar, resident of Parel Samba and decampedwith cash amounting to lakhs of rupees.
