NRLN ChaptersPurpose – Attract new members from diverse company and governmental backgrounds within geographic areas.

Chapters are not associations but may be started by company retirees. No limit on size. Report through NRLN Regional VP’s.

Chapters are functioning arms of your NRLN and are guided by NRLN’s Mission, By-laws & Legislative Agenda – see Chapter Model

Chapters are not 501 C organizations; no EIN required, can be managed by a team of people but must have someone accountable for Legislative Affairs, Membership and Communications.

Chapter recruiting of local retirees from local clubs, companies, governmental agencies etc. is important to our Grassroots growth.

NRLN Chapters

Uploading of Chapter member records to the Treasurer’s Database and Capwiz is mandatory.

Chapters solicit members to join the NRLN – contributions paid to the NRLN. Each individual has an account record.

Chapter budgets are based on need and revenue produced. Chapters leaders get an accounting report and member lists.

NRLN Provides the following Chapter Services: Chapter accounting, tax filing, Chapter website, Focus with Chapter insert (3X/Year), email communications service, Cap Wiz service, phone conferencing if needed and support from all NRLN Associations, Chapters and individual members.

Safe Importation of Prescription Drugs would save U.S. consumers 5% of the $4.7 trillion or $235 billion in ten years.

Medicare savings would be 5% of $979 billion or $49 billion over the same period.

How can members of Congress not take action to pass legislation that makes possible a level of Importation and Competitive Bidding that would save Medicare $10 billion a year and save for all Americans $47 Billion a year?

Democrats and Republicans, silent members of Congress and Tea Party members, you all need to set aside special interests and do the right thing.

Auto, Telecom, Airlines , Steel, Furniture, Clothing all answered the global competitive bell. It is time for Pharma companies to answer that bell also.

The Case for Breaking the Generic Drug Backlog:Congress recently passed legislation authorizing that license approval fees can be paid by generic drug manufacturers. However more support is needed to adequately fund and staff the FDA to accelerate generic drug approvals and to support importation on an ongoing basis.

Breaking the log jam would save U.S. buyers 3% of $4.7 trillion or $141 billion over the 2012–2021 period. Medicare would save 3% of $979 billion or $29 billion.

Brand and Generic Drug Manufacturing Restraint of Trade:“Pay-for-delay,” aka “reverse payments” exist despite strong FTC opposition. In 2012, the Philadelphia 3rd Circuit court ruled that pay-for-delay resulted in restraint of trade. Congress shouldn’t wait for courts to judge or interpret a weakness in law.

Stopping this practice would save U.S. buyers 3% of $4.7 trillion or $141 billion over the 2012–2021 period. Employee Benefit Research Institute reports that 14% of American households have enough money to live comfortably in retirement.

Boston College’s Center for Retirement Research reports that barely 40% of those ages 35-64 have a retirement plan of any sort with their jobs.

Merrill Lynch Affluent Insights Survey reports that 66% of women and 54% of men who are affluent worry they will not have sufficient assets to last through their lifetimes.

77% of Gen Y (born early 80’s to early 2000’s) 2

NASI survey reports that 71% of survey respondents said: - Eliminate $113,7700 Cap on taxable earnings over 10 years; affects 5% of all workers.- Raise Payroll tax form 6.2% to 7.2% (2X) over 10 years - Bolster Special Minimum Benefit for low-income workers below the defined poverty line. - CPI must reflect prices older people pay for health care.- Keep Social Security full retirement age at 67 – no means testing. 3
