BOP Reentry Events

FCC Allenwood

L. to R.: Warden Delbert Sauers; Warden Monica Recktenwald;

Warden Donna Zickefoose; and Magistrate Judge

William Arbuckle

FCC Allenwood Complex Warden Donna Zickefoose,

along with Wardens Monica Recktenwald (FCI) and

Delbert Sauers (LSCI), and several staff members

recently attended a Court Assisted Reentry (CARE)

program team meeting and court session for the

Middle District of Pennsylvania. After participating in

a discussion about the CARE Program, the staff

observed the Reentry Court overseen by The

Honorable William I. Arbuckle, Magistrate Judge.

Reentry Court represents a comprehensive approach to

working with supervised releasees. Those who

successfully fulfill the program requirements graduate

from the program and are often rewarded with a

reduced term of supervised release.

FCC Allenwood & FCI Schuylkill

FCC Allenwood and FCI Schuylkill Reentry Affairs

Coordinators recently conducted two training sessions

for U.S. Probation Office staff for the Middle District

of Pennsylvania. The training focused on interpreting

information contained in Inmate Skills Development

System reports and reviewing the various reentry

initiatives at FCC Allenwood. Probation Office staff

had the opportunity to exchange information with

Bureau staff and discussed the new Post-Conviction

Risk Assessments that are used to evaluate individual

risks and needs while inmates are on supervised

release.

U.S. Pre-Trial Services Officer; Charles Wilson, Case Manager;

and Michele Roman, U.S. Re-Trial Services Officer

FCI Fort Dix staff recently participated in a pre-

entry/reentry workshop. The goal of the workshop was

to create a partnership between U.S. Pre-Trial Services

and the Bureau and to establish a program designed to

assist newly designated offenders by addressing their

needs and issues prior to their incarceration. The

workshop included panelists from the U.S. Pre-Trial

Office and the U.S. Probation Office for the District of

New Jersey. Topics included a discussion of the pre-

trial process, voluntary surrender, and information

about what newly sentenced offenders should expect

upon their commitment to federal prison. Chief U.S.

Pre-Trial Services Officer Christine Dozier

spearheaded the program, with assistance from U.S.

Pre-Trial Officers Barbara Hutchinson and Michele

FDC Houston Participates in Project to Help Homeless Veterans

FDC Houston Command Center support staff with Housing Ready Kits

Federal employees in the Houston area, including FDC

Houston, recently embarked on a community service

project for newly-housed and formerly homeless

veterans – Housing Ready Kits. FDC Houston staff

collected kit items, including kitchen, bathroom, and

bedroom essentials—anything a person would need

when moving into a new home. Staff donated a total

of 18 kits. The Houston Federal Executive Board

recognized FDC Houston’s efforts with a MVP Award

for donating the most kits.

collected blankets and food to benefit the local

community during the holiday season. Approximately

300 pounds of much-needed food was donated to the

Community Center Food Pantry, and 127 blankets

were given to local nursing homes, health care centers

and senior citizen centers in the Manchester area.

Residents of these facilities were grateful for the gifts

and appreciated the opportunity to visit with FCI

Manchester staff.

FCI Otisville & USP Canaan

FCI Otisville staff recently sponsored a flag football

game against staff from USP Canaan. During the

game, participants donated toys to benefit “Toys for

stand sales raised $350 to purchase gifts. The toys and

money were donated to the U.S. Marine Corps for

distribution.

FCI Otisville and USP Canaan staff with “Toys for Tots” donations
