PANORAMIC TOUR
1Built in the Early Middle Ages, the primitive nave still includes the Romanesque portals, the modillions supporting the cornices andthe window in the main façade. The remodeling done in the 16th and 19th centuries added the Cantanhede Counts’ chapel, the sanctuary and the sacristy. In the 20th century, the choir screen and two neoclassical retables were removed, retur-ning the original purity to the interior space.
ROMANESQUE CHURCHOF ATEI
3Fortified settlement with permanentoccupation from the 4th century BCuntil the 1st century AD, representingan important evolution both in termsof space organization and adoptedarchitectural solutions. The impressiveset of granite spurts with abstract-themed imagery reveals the idolization of the areain Recent Pre-Historic times and itspreservation as a special place throughoutthe Iron Age. Under study since 1984.
THE HILLFORTAT CRASTOEIRO FISGAS DE ERMELO
This iconic place within the protected area of the Alvão Natural Park includes one of the largest waterfalls in Europe, with a drop or around 400 meters, flowing over quartz rocks which are approximately 480 million years old. The fractureof these hard rocks allowed the Olo river to flow through the cracks (“fisgas”), providing thepopular name by which it is known. This placehas a high scientific, educational, and patrimonial value and represents an important touristic attraction within the category of Nature Tourism.

GASTRONOMY
Sweets/Honey Green Wine Maronesa Meat SmokehousesHoney from Mondim de Basto has a noticeably darker tone and is particularly rich in specific mineral salt and has medium and regular crystallization levels.
The green wines fromMondim de Basto, bothwhite and red, originatein the slopes of the Tâmega valley, like a “divine blessing” that provides a soul to the gastronomy’s body.
The smokehouse production of Mondim de Basto is based on traditional recipes that are handed down through generations and produced from raw material that is raised in unique and relevant natural conditions.
From the green marshes ofthe mountainous parishes, comes the “maronesa”cow meat. A rustic andhistorical meat that is alsodelicate, soft and juicyon the plate, leaving youwanting for more.
