Money Island Math Challenge Super Teacher Worksheets - www.superteacherworksheets.com Objective: Practice basic counting coins skills. Overview: This exciting two-player board game helps children practice counting coins as they “island hop” from one island to the next! Materials: Money Island Math Challenge board game (pages 2 and 3 of this PDF file); two small toys or pawns to use as game pieces; plastic coins (U.S. dollars); green cupcake liners Set Up: Once you've gathered all your materials, write out dollar amounts on eight to ten cupcake liners. Stack them, and place them on the spot on the game board reserved for "Money Island." Fill the rest of the island spaces with plain cupcake liners. How to Play: The game moderator (teacher, parent, or other adult) will tell the players when to begin play. At the moderator's signal, players will use the play coins in front of them to make the same amount displayed on Money Island. Whoever shows the correct amount first gets to move their game piece onto the first island on the game board. The moderator removes the top cupcake liner from Money Island to reveal the new amount. He or she gives the signal, and the players compete in another round. Play continues as the players "island hop" across the board. The first player to land on Money Island wins the game!
