ONCE UPON A TIME, there were a group of people called the Mongols

These mighty conquerors connected an empire so vast that it stretched from China in the East to Russia in the

West.

They were GREAT warriors.

They often rode on horseback in war and otherwise. Horses were essential to Mongol life.

However, these were no battle horses, but small, agile ponies.

The Mongols also wielded composite short bows and arrows, WHILE riding on horseback.

The Mongols also wielded curved scimitar swords.

Along with the brawn, the Mongols also had brain. They were expert strategists.

They would always fight from high ground. And when they besieged cities, they used large catapults.

With these catapults, they would launch stones, and sometimes even victims of sickness. They sought to kill

their enemies with sickness.

The Mongols would trick their enemies, sending out a small group who would pretend to retreat. When the

enemies chased them, the rest of troops would flank the enemies.

The Mongols quickly spread throughout Asia and Europe.

First, they took China, making it their home base.

Then they took made their way to the Middle East, conquering the Persian Empire.

They even made it to Europe, taking over Kiev, Russia. They didn’t stand a chance.

Today, the Mongols are remembered as a strong, capable people. With their conquests, they changed the shape of

the world.
