ITW Polymers Coatings Opens New Manufacturing Plant
ITW Polymers Coatings North America
(Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania) opened its new-
est manufacturing plant in Houston, Texas.
Ground was broken on the 71,000 ft2 (6,595 m2)
facility last May and the frst batches of material
were produced this past February. The factory
combines the operations of two smaller facilities
into one state-of-the-art manufacturing environ-
ment, and joins other existing ITW Polymers
Coatings facilities in Oxford, Michigan, and
Montgomeryville, Pennsylvania. The new plant is
ISO 9001:2008-certifed, and approved by the
U.S. Navy to manufacture MIL-SPEC deck
coatings.
Riddle Wins John D. Keane Award of Merit
William “Doni” Riddle of The Sherwin-
Williams Co. (Cleveland, Ohio) was presented
with the John D. Keane Award of Merit by SSPC:
The Society for Protective Coatings. The award
recognizes outstanding leadership and signifcant
contributions to the development of the protective
coatings industry and SSPC. “The John D. Keane
Award is one of the most prestigious recognitions
that the SSPC Board of Governors presents, and
it is not given every year,” says SSPC Executive
Director Bill Shoup. “It is awarded to those indi-
viduals who have shown dedication to SSPC and
the coatings industry in general.”
Ecolab Purchases Champion Technologies
Ecolab, Inc. (St. Paul, Minnesota) closed its
acquisition of Champion Technologies and its
related company Corsicana Technologies. The
2012 sales of the acquired businesses were ~$1.3
billion, and the total transaction value, including
assumed debt, was ~$2.3 billion. Ecolab, with
2012 sales of $12 billion and 41,000 associates,
delivers comprehensive solutions and on-site service
to promote safe food, maintain clean environments,
optimize water and energy use, and improve op-
erational effciencies for customers in the food,
health care, energy, hospitality, and industrial
markets in more than 170 countries around the
world.
Exova Appoints New European Managing Director

group, appointed
Mike Pooley as its
new European
managing director
to lead its contin-
ued market growth. He joins Exova from CHEP,
a provider of pallet and container pooling services,
where he was senior vice president for sales and
customer operations and responsible for managing
$1.2 billion in annual revenue. At Exova, Pooley
will have responsibility for 36 testing facilities and
over 1,000 experts across Europe who will be
supporting customers in the aerospace, oil and gas,
pharmaceutical, food, and industrials sectors.
Castolin Eutectic Acquires Coatings Group
Castolin Eutectic (Bad Soden, Germany) ac-
quired privately held Monitor Coatings Group.
With facilities in the United Kingdom, Singapore,
and China, Monitor Coatings provides technology
for surface engineering in extreme environments and
serves customers in the oil and gas, steel, power,

BWA Joins Brine Chemistry Consortium
BWA Water Additives (Tucker, Georgia)
joined the Rice Brine Chemistry Consortium. Part
of the Civil and Environmental Engineering De-
partment of Rice University, the consortium per-
forms research, testing, education, and technology
transfer to solve problems related to brine produc-
tion in the oil and gas industry. According to BWA
Water Additives Executive Chairman and CEO
David W. Cartmell, “Partnership with the con-
sortium and its member companies will help us to
better understand the challenges with scale control
applications in the oil and gas market and bring
us closer to our customers.”
Rog Joins Philpott Energy

Jeffrey Rog joined
its senior manage-
ment staff. Rog
will initially man-
age the company’s
wholly owned subsidiary, Philpott Energy &
Transportation Co. (PETCO) as its vice president.
