When renowned carpet-maker Pieter Nouwens launched MONN in 2012, he heralded in a new era of quality carpet manufacturing. The MONN brand – a family-oriented acronym for the names of Pieter’s sons: Marcus, Oscar and Nicholas Nouwens (pictured above with Pieter) – encapsulates the skills, talents, experience and sterling reputation of five generations of carpet-making craftsmanship.

MONN is a leading manufacturer of premium quality, bespoke, woven Axminster carpets for hospitality applications, in addition to its range of luxury Wilton carpets and innovative ranges of commercial carpet tiles.

No matter where you take your inspiration from – be it the intricacies of fractal patterns found in natural stone or the organic shapes of foliage, stark urban graphics, geometrics or ethnic motifs – MONN can translate it into a beautifullycrafted, quality carpet.

The experienced MONN design team works closely with you to develop your creative concept into a full-fledged carpet design that seamlessly marries floor finish with architectural interiors. MONN’s Axminster design and weaving technology allow us to create perfect pattern repeats as well as single infinite designs with incredible precision and detail, down to a single tuft.

The MONN in-house yarn dyeing plant allows you to select a palette of colours from the spectrum of more than 600 standard colours, which are then specifically dyed for your individual project. We can also perfectly match custom hues to suit your interior scheme.

Once the design has been finalised, MONN prepares a Kibby carpet sample (available in 210 mm x 297 mm, 297 mm x 420 mm or 450 mm x 450 mm), which accurately render how colour and design combinations play out within the carpet. Upon approval, your carpet goes into production at our state-of-the-art mill in Harrismith.

MONN Axminster bespoke woven broadloom carpet designs stretch across restaurants, hotel lobbies, passages and guestrooms, casinos, entertainment centres, conference venues, corporate offices and boardrooms, bringing a definitive aesthetic and lasting quality finish to each of these spaces. MONN works across project scales and our long client list includes some of the largest South African casino and hotel groups – Tsogo Sun, Sun International, City Lodge, Holiday Inn, Protea, Reizidor and Marriott – as well as boutique hotels, restaurants, clubs and corporates.

The MONN Axminster carpet tile has been engineered as a loose-lay modular carpet solution that combines the precision and design freedom of broadloom Axminster weaving with the practicality and flexibility afforded by carpet tile solutions. The MONN Axminster carpet tile allows for a unbounded pattern to be extended over multiple tile modules – each with a nominal size of 900 mm x 900 mm – creating a single seamless design. This Axminster construction has been specially modified and engineered for high traffic applications and is offered in 9 Row and 10 Row specifications.

The high-performance MONN Axminster carpet tile is the premium choice for application in the gaming, leisure and hospitality sector. MONN’s uncompromising pursuit of quality means the tiles have been designed and produced for optimal performance, resistance to abrasion, colour fastness and dimensional stability – ensuring long-term durability of every installation.

The MONN Wilton Collection offers the durability and luxury of traditional Wilton weaving techniques in contemporary patterns.

Expertly crafted on wire looms, the Wilton weaving enables the carpet design to contain both loop-pile and cut-pile finishes in various heights giving the carpets a sculptural quality while maintaining structural integrity.

MONN ensure quality throughout every step of the carpet-making process. From selecting the perfect blend of pure new wool, carding and spinning our own yarns and dyeing onsite, we ensure the integrity of the materials that make up the carpet.

MONN Bureau is a highly textured and structured loop-pile, loose-lay carpet tile with a modern striated motif. The dynamic linear design allows a variety of different laying patterns for a contemporary look.

The range is available in four colourways that range from contemporary grey to quiet neutrals. The loose-lay carpet tiles are laid semi-bonded to a substrate to create an anchor grid that stabilises the whole installation, making it durable in high-traffic areas.

MONN Bureau soft flooring provides excellent sound insulation and improved air quality thanks to its dust-capturing capabilities, making it highly suitable for commercial use. The solution-dyed Aquafil Nylon 6 fibre provides excellent durability and colour fastness, and ensures the longevity of MONN Bureau floors.

A contemporary range of loose-lay tufted carpet tiles, MONN Planc’s elegant scale and proportion allow for a multitude of laying patterns inspired by traditional parquet or wooden floors.

The range is available in eight colourways, all of which evoke the subtle yet distinct regional hues of the South African landscapes for a sophisticated palette. The natural shades are complemented by five intense accent colours that allow for zoning, bordering as well as endless possibilities in creating patterns.

MONN Planc soft flooring provides excellent sound insulation and improved air quality thanks to its dust-capturing capabilities, making it highly suitable for commercial use. The solution-dyed Aquafil Nylon 66 fibre provide excellent durability and colour fastness ensuring the longevity of MONN Planc floors.

Sophisticated modular flooring with a unique sheen. MONN Flux is a new-look contemporary range of loose – lay tufted carpet tiles. Elegant proportions, subtle colouring and innovative design detail all contribute to the versatility of this range. MONN Flux has been inspired by oxidized metal features found in urban architecture.

The range is available is four colourways. These colourways are complimented by four metallic effect tiles with lustrous accent yarns that evoke a subtle and shimmering finish. Not only does MONN Flux achieve a luxurious aesthetic but also allows for endless possibilities to create patterns.

The perfect luxurious canvas for any interior style, MONN Chroma combines the fine texture and velvet lustre of the hard twist cut pile with a vast array of colour possibilities for a truly sumptuous finish.

MONN Chroma is available in one of the 600 standard colours. The MONN in-house yarn-dyeing plant also allows us to perfectly match a custom hue to suit your decor scheme with a minimum order of 50 m2.

Suitable for commercial and residential use, this full floor carpet provides excellent sound and thermal insulation, contributing so much more to your environment than just a daring colour. The combination of 80% Pure New Wool with 20% Aquafil Nylon 6 fibre aids the durability and colour fastness, ensuring the longevity of MONN Chroma.

MONN RUGS

MONN celebrates its expertise in carpet manufacturing with the introduction of MONN Rugs – a new bespoke woven service that unlocks the creative freedom of having any design translated into a plush rug. Our rugs are available in 9 Row and 10 Row specifications and have a luxurious pile height of 15mm. Minimum order of 20 m2.
