Monroe Missionary Baptist Church
Issue 4 – January & February 2019
Hello Ladies!
I hope you had an enjoyable Christmas season celebrating the birth of Jesus. Of course as Christians we can carry the excitement of Christ’s coming all
year long!
As we consider our heart’s desires for the year ahead, let’s remember to first pray and ask God what His plans are for us. Which path should I take Lord? How do I go about this decision Father? As we read scripture daily He will reveal our next steps. He will remove our burdens! When we grow weary He will refresh us. Scripture tells us, “Those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:31
I hope you are excited for the fresh start a new year seems to bring! The Women’s Life Enrichment Ministries team will be meeting on January 13th to begin planning events for this year. How can you help? Pray for the W.L.E.M. direction... and ask the Lord what your role is in the church if you do not yet know. We are all called to serve within the body of Christ. Serving in the church is part of His great plan for our lives and it is exciting to be a part of too! Email me at [email protected] with ideas that you would like to see offered to our women of
all ages.
Love in Christ,
Lisa Jordan
Women’s Ministries Leader

SISTERS IN SPIRIT NEWS (A ministry for widow’s, divorcees, or single women for any reason.)
A 4th anniversary celebration was held at a banquet on September 22nd. In partnership with Tom and Renee Treece’s Guided Ministries for widows, we were blessed to have 50 ladies in attendance for a delicious meal, inspiring testimony by Renee Treece, entertainment by Tom Treece, door prizes and
Christian fellowship.
The December 8th Christmas Potluck once again was a lot of fun with 32 in attendance. Pastor Steve Stone graced us with his presence and God’s Word. There were gifts, door prizes and an Ugly Sweater Contest. Winners pictured are left to right. Linda Bartley and Shirley Gillespie (Honorable Mention); Janie
Whitwam (Second Place); Joyce Wallen (Our First Place Winner-her lights flashed on and off);
and Alice Bailey (Third Place).
The Lord has truly blessed this ministry as we find strength, comfort, encouragement and hope to move forward; knowing a God who loves us is always with us. Anyone interested in this ministry may call the church office for contact information. “Cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.” 1 Peter 5:7

The Women’s Tea was held November 3rd. It was a wonderful night filled with fellowship and sharing. We had about 18 table hostesses and 120 guests attending. Our focal verse was John 3:16 as we encouraged the ladies to remember the gift that God has given us - His Son - that whosoever would believe in Him, eternal life can be theirs.
That is why we have a thankful heart that longs to serve.
A special thank you to Karen Daniel who led us in songs of praise and to Emma Schramm who was our guest speaker.
Emma has such a servant’s heart! Her encouraging words and
scripture were such a blessing.

The W.O.M. group has a new leadership focus, which is to live intentionally for Christ. We can do this by: 1) Continuing to pray about how we can meet the needs of our missionaries
2) Continuing to pray for more women to be interested in missions
3) Continuing to know more of The Word by memorization (We are working on the book of James beginning in January)
4) Be persistent in our testimony as we love and encourage one another
5) Be persistent in our greatest work here and abroad to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:24

The YLF has been busy with a secret little sister ministry. Many of them have adopted a secret little sister to pray for and leave random notes and gifts throughout the year. The YLF ladies are also on the receiving end of this awesome ministry as
they have been secretly adopted by many of our older ladies in the church. This ministry has been connecting ladies of all ages! Thank you to everyone who is
participating!!
Next YLF meeting for ladies aged 17-
25 years old will be at Lisa Jordan’s home for an afternoon of food, fellowship and fun, Sunday, February 10th at 1pm. Contact Johna LaPrad (734) 344-8655 for more information and address.
Cookie Exchange
The Girls in Action (GA’s) class of our youngest ladies hosted a beautiful Christmas Cookie Exchange on December 8th, complete with a hot chocolate bar and the retelling of the Christmas story straight from God's word. The girls assembled a manger scene for visual effect. Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, friends of all ages were invited. The cookies were delicious and the fellowship was sweet!! The G.A.s
