Missions News - The 4th, 5

th, and 6

th grade Religion classes shared the light of Christ with our military men and

women overseas by collecting and stuffing Christmas Stockings for our soldiers. They collected over 178 stuffed

stockings with candy, small games, puzzles, and necessary personal hygiene products for the soldiers. Ruddick’s

Funeral Home will be shipping the stockings overseas. Let us remember our military families during this season

of Advent.

Apopka Toy Drive: We want to send out a big THANK YOU to everyone who sent in toy and gift donations for

the Apopka Toy Drive that ended on Monday. Twenty-nine boxes were sent via Southwest Airlines on Thursday

morning to a very grateful Sister Gail and her team for their Christmas Store! Thank you to our student council

members who made quick work of the donations, packing them up and then helping to load them onto the trucks.

Thank you to Mr. Alan Morris at the U-Store of Glen Burnie, who donated most of the boxes we used for this

shipment. And finally, a huge thank you to Southwest Cargo, who delivered our shipment at no cost to us once

again. They actually thank us for allowing them to be a part of this awesome tradition at Slade and gave out some

nice little goodies to our student council helpers. Again, thank you to our wonderful, generous families for your

unceasing support of this annual Christmas project!

Holiday Food Drive: ‘Tis the Season! Next week, from Monday, Dec 5th, through Friday, December 9

th, we will

be collecting non-perishable foods to benefit the North County Emergency Outreach Network (NCEON).

NCEON will be preparing food baskets for local families in need this holiday. They are looking for specific

foods to fill these baskets, so please see the attached flyer to find the details for your child’s grade. This is a very

quick project, and we thank you in advance for helping area families that need a little extra help this holiday

season.

HASA Happenings:

FORMER RAVENS #52 RAY LEWIS IS COMING TO SLADE!! Please see the attached flyer for more

details!

Please take a moment to come into school to see the Christmas Giving Tree. Once again, the Home and

School Association (HASA) is sponsoring this tree, filled with ornaments that contain wish lists from the

teachers. The tree makes gift-giving so easy. Simply take an ornament off the tree, fill the request, and send the

gift in with your child to give to their teacher. The Slade community's generosity in supporting and enhancing our

children's learning experience is always appreciated by our wonderful teachers. Merry Christmas to all!

Out-of-Uniform Day for Yankee Candle/Mixed Bag Sale: Students qualify for an out-of-uniform day if the

family had combined sales (from both Yankee Candle & Mixed Bags) of $150 or more. The out-of-uniform day

is scheduled for Monday, December 12th. Out-of-uniform passes will not be sent home this year. Instead, names

of all the students who qualify will be listed as an attachment in the December 9th weekly update.

Scrip can Help this Holiday!! Need stocking stuffers or gifts this holiday season? Place your order with Scrip

and earn a bit back toward next year's tuition. There are two more dates to get your Scrip orders in prior to the

holiday break. The first is next Monday, December 5th. Please have all online orders submitted by Noon on

Monday December 5th. Or please submit the paper order form with corresponding check to the MSCS front office

Last Chance for Christmas at Slade Tickets! Santa is coming to Slade in ONE week on Sunday, December

Christmas at Slade Theme Basket Raffle: Please review the attachment below for information on the 38

wonderful theme baskets for raffle during this year’s Christmas at Slade festivities. The ticket order form is also

Cash Raffle Tickets Due Now! Please send in all Cash Raffle tickets by Thursday, December 8th, at the very

latest. All tickets received by then will be entered into another special drawing. The Cash Raffle drawing will

take place on Sunday, Dec. 11th, at Christmas at Slade. You don’t need to be present to win.

Bull Roast Tickets: Tickets for our Spring Bull Roast will be on sale at Christmas at Slade and the Chorus

Concert/Christmas Pageant next week. Tickets are $50 per person or $45 per person for a table of 10.

Volunteers for Christmas at Slade: Volunteers are still needed to work for our annual Christmas at Slade event

on Sunday, December 11th. Satisfy your service hours and support this great community-building event. All

We are proud to announce that we have 38 – yes, 38! – wonderful theme baskets to be raffled this year! You will find there is something for everyone! A special thank you to our generous sponsors reflected on the attached list of baskets! The baskets will be on display in the Multi-Purpose Room at Christmas at Slade on Sunday, December 11th.
