In 1990, Keith Sipe started the Montana Rifleman. He was a gunsmith who specialized in fixing firearms for the avid sportsman. His own passion for hunting and his technical know-how earned him a loyal following among his clients.

Accuracy is a concern for every serious hunter. To get the performance he wanted for his customers, Sipe built his own barrel drill, reamer and rifler and started to make high-quality barrels on his own.

The next logical step was to start making custom hunting rifles. Many of his early guns were based on Mauser-type actions. But in the mid 90s the supply of these actions dwindled and Sipe went to the drawing board to create his own.

Sipe knew what he wanted in his own action. It would combine the best attributes of the famed Mauser action with features of the early Winchester Model 70 action…and the Model 1999 action was born. This dual-lug, controlled-round feed action formed the basis for the Montana Rifle Company.

Sipe grew his barrel manufacturing company, The Montana Rifleman Inc, into one of the largest barrel manufacturing companies in the world, while changing course at Montana Rifle Company from custom to full production rifles, winning the prestigious Field & Stream “Best of the Best” Award.

Montana Rifle Company is located in the heart of the American West, and our favorite elk and mule deer spots are not far from our back door. But that doesn’t stop us from traveling the globe to test our products on the world’s most grueling hunts. The American Vantage Rifle (AVR) is a classic dangerous game rifle offered in either matte blued chrome moly steel or 100% stainless steel barreled actions with marble replaceable front and rear sights. Accuracy at longer distances requires many things, but it all starts with having the right rifle. The new Montana Marksman Rifle and Montana Tactical Rifle are up to the task. Both the MMR and MTR series come with the new Professional Hunter Action. They are bedded into a custom made T-11 Stock that is fully field adjustable for length of pull and cheek height. They also come with a tactical bolt knob and Timney trigger. The MMR comes threaded for a muzzle brake or suppressor and a thread cap.

Johnny Unser is a member of the Unser Racing Family and has carried on the tradition by qualifying for the prestigious Indianapolis 500 in five consecutive years. He is also an avid outdoorsman, a member of RMEF Team Elk show and spends much of his free time somewhere in the mountains.

The opportunities that Jimmy has had touring with Carrie Underwood has led him to meet numerous people in the hunting industry. When not onstage he is in the gym training for rigorous mountain hunts, and writing articles for hunting, music, and fitness publications across the globe.

Shooting sports were something that came quite naturally to Cindi. Her successes at the range have translated to validated tags of many of North America’s big game species. In constant pursuit of new challenges, most of her hunts take place deep in the high country.

Every Montana Rifle Company Product comes with our “Limited Lifetime Warranty” on all parts for the life of the rifle. This does not include normal wear and tear, barrel life, misuse or damage from the consumer. If there is a problem the consumer just needs to send the product in to our facility and once it is deemed a warranty issue, we will fix or replace it.

It is our belief that guarantees are worth the paper they are written on. We do not offer a Guarantee. However, it has ALWAYS been our policy at MRC that if your rifle will not shoot 1 MOA or better, send it back and we will fix or replace it.
