A New Coat of Leaves
Once upon a time in a jungle, there was a Cedar tree which had sharp needle- like leaves. It
was not so beautiful like the other trees. So, it was not happy with the way it looked. It wished to have smooth golden leaves. One day there was a miracle, the leaves of the tree changed into golden leaves.
The tree was very happy, but a woodcutter came and plucked all the leaves. Suddenly the tree
had no leaves and it became very unhappy again. Now the cedar tree wished for glass leaves. Some glass leaves appeared on the tree, but they broke when strong wind blew. Then the tree wished for a coat of soft green leaves. The tree was happy to have soft green
leaves, but a giraffe passing by saw and ate away all the leaves. The tree was very sad. At last the cedar tree wished to have its own sharp needle-like leaves which stayed green forever. The cedar tree was happy and satisfied.

Story: A new coat of leaves
When young children come for the first
time to pre-school, they need to feel
valued, loved, respected and cared for.
Children need an environment and
activities where they feel positive
about themselves and their learning.
The theme 'My School' helps children
to understand their immediate learning
environment. The celebration of
birthdays and receiving small tokens of
appreciation help the child feel
comfortable in a new environment.
School is a second home to a child, with
this thought in mind, through this
theme, a teacher acts as a mentor,
supporter and a friend to the young
ones with the aim to provide an
empathetic environment thereby,
making them cherish their school days.
