An extension lecture was organized for the students,

on the topic RTI (Right to Information Act) on the

occasion of World Standards Day.

The objective of the session was to create awareness

among the students regarding the rights they have to

obtain any relevant information of an organization,

under RTI.

The guest speaker of the session was Mr. Vimal

Shrimal, practicing CA.

Mr. Vimal Shrimal was welcomed by Ms. Pooja Kothari

(MCA III sem). He began by narrating a small story

showing the Indian tendency of casual attitude

regarding their rights. He explained the RTI Act 2005,

with respect to its utility for a common man and the

information which can be obtained about any

government organization by the general public.

RTI provides accountability to the working of any

organization and it also shows whether a company is

abiding by its rules and regulations or not.

RTI gives the assurance that the work done by a

company is authentic and legal. It also gives

transparency to the work as it is more like auditing of

records. Mr. Vimal Shrimal also said that being a

student; one should be always aware of one’s rights,

which will inculcate a feeling of self confidence. He

concluded by wishing the students a bright and

successful career and asked them to be aware of the

surroundings. A token of respect was given to the

guest by Mr. Dheeraj Salvi (MCA V) and vote of thanks

was proposed by Ms. Pooja Kothari (MCA III).
