Monthly Newsletter August 2018 From the Manager’s Desk: Greetings Ponds Residents, Just a reminder that anyone who wishes to submit a DRB application for consideration will need to submit a completed form to the Management Office (farmhouse) by the 25 th of each month to be reviewed by the DRB Committee which meets the first Friday of each month. Dana Wyatt and I are happy to help you if you have questions regarding the application process, and applications may be obtained in the office as well. Please just remember that work may not begin until you receive approval from the committee. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you all of the rules in the community regarding golf carts. All owners with a golf cart need to have a Ponds Golf Cart Sticker displayed on their carts. If you don’t already have one, please stop by the Farmhouse, and we will be happy to give you one. Also, we are continuing to see children under the age of 16 driving golf carts in the community. This is very dangerous and not only a violation of the HOA Rules and Regulations, but against the South Carolina Code of Laws for Golf Carts. Please do not allow your unlicensed child to drive a cart in the community. Thank you for your assistance with this! Let's Talk Specifics Article by Greg Johnson, Chairman Pond's Fishing Club Leaving our July Fishing Club Meeting, I learned that a lot of members wanted more specifics about basic fishing techniques and methods. In response, let's talk about methods and ways of catching Sunfish "& Other Panfish.

Equipment for Live Bait Fishing: Thin-diameter line enables you to present bait naturally. Personally, I know you can use light line to land large fish, but it takes extra time. (Ask Michael Hartzog who landed a large catfish on 6 lbs line). Remember, light line is not practical for fishing in thick cover or snaggy bottoms. Four to six pound line is perfect, using a # 6 to 10 size hook. Bait: Generations of fishermen have proven that earthworms serve as an excellent bait for most panfish, sunfish, and yellow perch. I have personally found that crustaceans sometimes catch more fish, but worms are generally my first choice. The smaller varieties of worms work best. Most worms purchased from Walmart and local bait stores are night crawlers garden worms, leaf worms and red wiggles. Most panfish have small mouths and only nibble at a worm that is too big. If using a night crawler, an inch-long piece works best. I hope this helps you become more successful in fishing for small fish. Please let me know if you want to
