Out of all my covers chosen in the collage, i could pick out my favourite few.

These covers are chosen for different reasons...

This cover is from “Eminem”, I like this image because of the way the photo is set out. Your attention is drawn towards both the oversized moon in the back round and the two people in the picture, the man standing to the right and the one piled into the back of the boot of a car. With the dark colour’s and ominous setting used, the moon almost acts like a ghost or the mans conscience looking over him as if it knows what he has done, and what has he done ? He’s killed the man in the back of the car.

Maybe this use of a bad setting is trying to say that the artist see’s himself as a “bad” guy or maybe that he has done bad things that are on his mind and this may lead to his life experiences being talked about in his lyrics.

This cover is of “Guns and Roses” album, the artists are shown though a series of cartoon characters representing each band member and then figured into the shape of a cross.

From their skull characters you could associate their personalities with being quite hard don’t give a crap rockers, which is what they were like in their prime.

These two covers and pieces of art are a great display of imagination being incorporated into the presentation of their music.

I think these extra-ordinary images are trying to bring across the fact that their music is extra-ordinary, and different.

On the first cover, the band are shown with their faces split which also creates an eagle image, which is fairly odd to say the least.

This cover is different to the others because it doesn’t contain the main artist / artist’s.

It is effective in relation to the name of the album “collision course”, by using a back round of scruffy drawing type pictures which have been mashed up, everything looks messy and like it has clashed, which is what the song is about, the bringing together of two songs to make one bigger and better song.

The covers chosen picture shows the music to be mixed up a little crazy and most of all different, like it is nothing you have ever heard before, which makes you want to buy the cd.

These covers are not in my collage but I think they represent the R&B stereotype. R&B artists conform to the use of a close up picture to present themselves in a full on way, it marks the CD… the music as being theirs and is intimidating to the person viewing the cover. This image is a representation of their music and what the listener should expect. These images used therefore are used to drag in the target audience.

This image is a strong stereotype to the R&B industry. It shows a young child covered in tattoos' wearing a suit and wearing jewellery, it’s just something that would not happen. It may seem funny but what it is really saying to me is that from a young age young black males are inspired to be like R&B artists, so this picture seems to be condemning the child to the life of an R&B artist, by dressing him and making him look almost intimidating from a very young age.

By following this stereotypical theme it gives the consumer an incite to the music, I think the tracks will pour emotion, truth and philosophy into the words used by the artist. This artist is using his music to bring across his thoughts and perception of life.

The name “THA CARTER III”, is very similar to the way we name kings and queens, like “queen Elizabeth" the III. Using this it says that this child could be an inheriting to R&B music, by saying he's a king it shows the life of an R&B artist to be glorious.
