Genre and conventions of chosen genre - Thriller

I chose these pictures as I want to make a thriller opening title sequence. I like the “Would you rather?” title credit as it’s unusual and you wouldn’t expect it to be a thriller. I chose blood as I have some ideas of making the opening with some red food colouring and the knives. Police caution tape has been chosen to show crime which is typical for a thriller. Silhouettes and mirrors have been chosen as inspiration for my opening title sequence. The clocks and egg timer have been chosen to show time ticking away like a typical thriller. Running tracks have been used to go along with the clocks as it’s all being timed. Danger signs have been chosen to highlight lots of dangers within the thriller.

Settings, visual style, lighting, props and costumes - Thriller

• I chose these pictures to inspire my thriller opening title sequence. The setting for my opening title sequence in the establishing shot would be a silhouette of buildings in the distance which is shown by the picture. The creepy clowns would be the main costume in my thriller.

Characters

• I chose these pictures that go with the characters of my thriller. I chose all these random objects such as random words, a doll, a table, an alley way and a wall as these things could flash on and off the screen making it more tense as it goes. I would prefer to use objects rather than people as it keeps the audience more inquisitive as they hardly know anything and would keep focused and engaged so they could find out more. The clown has been chosen as this is typical for a thriller film and would give the thrill seekers what they expect.

Camera work/ cinematography

• I chose these camera angles and cinematography techniques as they would fit in with my film genre which is a thriller. An extreme close up of an eye will create tension in a thriller because if the eyes are so zoomed in and don’t blink the entire time then it’d create a lot of tension for the audience. Low angles have been used as it makes the people in these shots seem a lot bigger than they are, intimidating the audience. A high angle makes you feel higher than those in the shot, making you feel more intimidating. A close up on the deer has been chosen as it gives the audience a fair showing of the character’s reaction.
