SAFETY IS OUR TOP PRIORITY!
In the early 1990’s, Katzkin took the lead in our industry by being proactively involved with safety issues. We began by ensuring that the construction of our seat covers provided for the proper deployment of side impact airbags. As part of this process, we initiated both in-house and independent testing of our covers. These tests demonstrated that our covers, when properly installed, did not interfere with the operation of the side impact airbags.
Katzkin then set an industry precedent by backing our product with a $51 million product liability insur-ance policy, issued by the world’s highest rated insurance company.
In 2002, we began researching and testing our interiors for the impending new federal regulation requir-ing the introduction of Occupant Classification Systems (OCS). Again, testing showed that our interiors, when properly installed, did not interfere with the operation of the Occupant Classification System. Before the year was over, we created our Katzkin OCS Manual, a guide to understanding these new safety systems.
As of today, we are the ONLY aftermarket leather interior company approved by a major OE manufacturer (DaimlerChrysler) for installation of our covers on their vehicles equipped with OCS. And we continue to test our product using the top independent research laboratory in the country – the same lab that the OE’s and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration use.

No other seat heater in the industry gets as hot as the Carbotex Seat Heating System manufactured by WET. According to offi cials at WET, the actual carbon fi ber fi laments within the unit reach an amazing 70 C / 158 F. This means the ocupant experiences a comfortable seat-surface temperature of between 40 C/104 F and 45 C / 113 F.
This unit, which meets OEM specifi cations and testing require-ments, has better heating capabilities than our previous seat heater. The standard control unit has temperature sensors in its 11”x 22” heating pad, with a high setting that gives you a fast full power warm-up and the low setting for soothing warmth.

In 2004, Katzkin introduced Tuscany, a leather softer and more luxurious than any leather ever offered for auto-motive use. Available at fi rst in only four colors, Tuscany elevated opulence to deca-dence, but the demand for this “one-notch-higher” luxury was overwhelming. Katzkin is now pleased to offer Tuscany in
