Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Health. Dietetics is an area of health science that
studies people’s nutritional needs in wellness, disease and special concerns. The Miami Dietetics program is accredited by the
Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and
Dietetics (AND). The Dietetics Major program classes fulfill the
didactic portion of the requirements, while the Post-
Graduate Dietetic Internship and successful passing of the AND Registered Dietitian Exam is
required to become a Registered Dietitian.

What if a Dietetic Internship is not
for me?
What Dietetic Internship Directors want to see:
A minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher in your Dietetic Major Courses. A GPA of 3.2 or higher will improve your chances.
Apply for Scholarships in the KNH Department, University and other organizations.
Become a part of the Student Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (SAND) and show leadership in student organizations on campus or in the community.
Make connections! Shadow a local dietitian, food service manager or someone involved in the field. Ask them if they need any help in order to gain experience.

If you do not meet the academic requirements, do not have the experiences or do not want to participate in the dietetic internship for another reason there are many, many other options.

Process1.Investigate and research internship opportunities during your sophomore year of classes.2. Prepare a resume including academic accomplishments, leadership, experience, ability, recognition and reference list.3. Discuss with your advisor different internship sites you are interested in based on your academics, interests and experiences.4. Discuss with potential faculty members about faculty reference letters. Fill out a FERPA release form for each faculty member who writes a letter.5. Apply to 7-10 of the discussed internship sites in a variety of states and locations during the beginning of your senior year. Do not limit your search to just one geographic location! Make sure you adhere to deadlines!6. Hear about being accepted in spring of senior year.
