Proposal

• Millions of people travel daily from the Asian side to the European one and vise versa.

• European side=more workplaces • People tend to work in the

European side and live in the Asian one.

• Results : Large traffic jams and more waiting time= more energy used = more pollution

Page 7: More sustainable Istanbul

PROPOSAL : RUSH HOUR

• Large Traffic jam results in more waiting and more pollution and less sustainable city

• People leaves the work at the same hour around 5

• The same rush hour in a 14,2 M human city results in a long traffic lines

Page 8: More sustainable Istanbul

PROPOSAL :SUGGESTED SOLUTION

• The suggestion has two levels and two features • First level is on the city level, Istanbul • Features are

1. First decrease the problem of rush hour by changing the time of it • People in each side of the city should have different leaving time (at least in

public sectors)

2. Second decreasing the working hours in the Asian side to increase its the importance and decrease the traffic for the European side in the usual rush hour • This could be applied by changing the time from 5 to 4 for example

Page 9: More sustainable Istanbul

• The second levels are on the country level • People should have slightly different working hours on

the country levels to decrease the peak power usage• For Example it could be worked that people in Ankara

could work between 8 to 4 while in Istanbul it is from 9 to 5

• Each city will be treated according to the highest peak it take considering its characteristics (social and economical features)

PROPOSAL :SUGGESTED SOLUTION

PREDICTED RESULTS • First it is predicted to redistribute the traffic cognition on more hours

which will decrease the jams • More better distributed importance for both sides of the city which will

improve the transpiration quality and improve the economical growth, better distribution = better economic performance

• The feature of decreasing working hours may have some economical affect in the initial start, however, it supposed to be an encouraging steps for the labor sector to change its location which will lead to a better distribution on the city level

• Improving the traffic routs should be done side by side by performing more infrastructure projects
