THEATRE: Octavia Biggs-Fleck: Program director of Lexington
Children’s Theatre’s Shooting Stars Youtheatre (SSYT), a satellite
performing arts program for Elliott and Rowan counties. Biggs-Fleck
is also lecturer of theatre at Morehead State University, School of
Music, Theatre and Dance and director for The Little Company, where
she prepares college students to perform touring productions and
teach drama workshops in middle and high schools across the state
of Kentucky.

setting that allows for interaction with expert faculty and the
opportunity to work with other students who share specific
interests in music, theatre, or art and design.
Music • Theatre • Art & Design A six-day residential camp for
high school students (incoming freshmen through graduating
seniors).
$100 merit scholarships available. Sponsored by the Caudill College
of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, and the Department of
Music, Theatre & Dance.

OUR PURPOSE The Morehead State University Summer Arts Academy (SAA)
exists to nurture students’ development in the arts in a setting
that allows for interaction with expert faculty and the opportunity
to work with other students who share specific interests in music,
theatre, or art and design.
THE ACADEMY The Academy consists of six full days of activities,
including individual and group instruction in your chosen area
(music, theatre, or art and design). Evening activities include
presentations and performances by faculty, as well as recreational
activities. The Academy is open to all high school students
(incoming freshman through graduating seniors).
REPRESENTED AREAS: • ART & DESIGN: Ceramics, Photography,
Graphic Design, Art Activism • MUSIC: Flute, Clarinet, Oboe,
Bassoon, Saxophone, Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba/
Euphonium, Piano, Voice/Choir and Percussion. Music Electives will
include: Jazz Improvisation, Music Technology, Conducting,
Eurhythmics, History of Rock and Roll, Class Piano and Choir for
the instrumentalist.
• THEATRE: Character Development, Directing Workshop, Mask Making,
Individual and Group Artistic Development.
