WELCOME TO EMMANUEL!

Today’s service will be Morning Prayer from The Book of Common Prayer, which begins on Page 78 in the Prayer Book, if you wish to follow along in that manner, but everything you need to participate in the service is included in this booklet. Speaking of participating, that’s what we hope you will be able to do. In the season of life that we are living in, this virtual way of holding corporate worship services is the most prudent option, but in order for it to be truly corporate, as in the body of Christ acting together as one, your participation is necessary. So, please, don’t sit back and enjoy the show, but get ready to say the parts of the service appointed for the

congregation, sing the canticles and hymns, listen to the Scriptures and sermon, and pray the prayers. In that way we will all be working together to worship the living God who holds us in life, even in this season of life. You can find the broadcast of the service either at https://facebook.com/EmmanuelSanAngelo/ 0r https://youtube.com/EmmanuelSanAngelo/.

Ascribe to the Lord the honor due his Name; bring offerings and come into his courts.

-Psalm 96:8

The ministry of Emmanuel continues, and your financial stewardship is greatly appreciated. If you wish to make an

INVITATORY AND PSALTER

Lord open our lips And our mouth shall proclaim your praise. Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen. Alleluia. PASCHA NOSTRUM Christ our Passover Alleluia. Christ our Passover has been sacrificed for us; *

therefore let us keep the feast, Not with the old leaven, the leaven of malice and evil, *

but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. Alleluia. Christ being raised from the dead will never die again; *

death no longer has dominion over him. The death that he died, he died to sin, once for all; *

but the life he lives, he lives to God. So also consider yourselves dead to sin, *

and alive to God in Jesus Christ our Lord. Alleluia. Christ has been raised from the dead, *

the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by a man came death, *

by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, *

so also in Christ shall all be made alive. Alleluia.

PSALM 116:1-3,10-17

A B C D

A I love the Lord, because he has heard the voice of my suppli/cation, * B because he has inclined his ear to me whenever I called up/on him. C The cords of death entangled me; the grip of the grave took/ hold of me; * D I came to grief and/ sorrow. A Then I called upon the Name of the/ Lord: * B “O Lord, I pray you, save my/ life." C How shall I repay the/ Lord * D for all the good things he has/ done for me? A I will lift up the cup of sal/vation * B and call upon the Name of the/ Lord. C I will fulfill my vows to the/ Lord * D in the presence of all his/ people. A Precious in the sight of the/ Lord * B is the death of his/ servants. C O Lord, I am your/ servant; * D I am your servant and the child of your handmaid;

you have freed me from my/ bonds. A I will offer you the sacrifice of thanks/giving * B and call upon the Name of the/ Lord. C I will fulfill my vows to the/ Lord * D in the presence of all his/ people, C In the courts of the Lord's/ house, * D in the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Halle/lujah! A Glory to the Father, and to the /Son, B and to the Holy /Spirit: C as it was in the beginning, is /now, D and will be for ever. A/men

1ST READING: ACTS 2:14a,36-41

Peter, standing with the eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd, “Let the entire house of Israel know with certainty that God has made him both Lord and Messiah, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ so that your sins may be forgiven; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you, for your children, and for all who are far away, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to him.” And he testified with many other arguments and exhorted them, saying, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” So those who welcomed his message were baptized, and that day about three thousand persons were added. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God.

2ND READING: 1 PETER 1:17-23

If you invoke as Father the one who judges all people impartially according to their deeds, live in reverent fear during the time of your exile. You know that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your ancestors, not with perishable things like silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without defect or blemish. He was destined before the foundation of the world, but was revealed at the end of the ages for your sake. Through him you have come to trust in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are set on God. Now that you have purified your souls by your obedience to the truth so that you have genuine mutual love, love one another deeply from the heart. You have been born anew, not of perishable but of imperishable seed, through the living and enduring word of God. The Word of the Lord. Thanks be to God. CANTICLE A Song to the Lamb S264

A B C D

A Splendor and honor and / kingly / power B are yours by / right, O / Lord our / God, C For you created / every thing that / is, D and by your will they were cre/ated and / have their / being; A And yours by right, O / Lamb that was / slain, B for with your / blood you have re/deemed for / God, C From every family, language, / people, and / nation, D a kingdom of / priests to / serve our / God. A And so, to him who sits up/on the / throne, B ━ / and to / Christ the / Lamb, C Be worship and praise, do/minion and / splendor, D for/ever and for/ever/more.

HOMILY Living in Reverent Fear During Our Time of Exile THE APOSTLES’ CREED I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth; I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

THE LORD’S PRAYER The Lord be with you. And also with you. Let us pray. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen. SUFFRAGES A

V. Show us your mercy, O Lord; R. And grant us your salvation. V. Clothe your ministers with righteousness; R. Let your people sing with joy. V. Give peace, O Lord, in all the world; R. For only in you can we live in safety. V. Lord, keep this nation under your care; R. And guide us in the way of justice and truth. V. Let your way be known upon earth; R. Your saving health among all nations. V. Let not the needy, O Lord, be forgotten; R. Nor the hope of the poor be taken away. V. Create in us clean hearts, O God; R. And sustain us with your Holy Spirit.

Almighty God, Father of all mercies, we your unworthy servants give you humble thanks for all your goodness and loving-kindness to us and to all whom you have made.
