Men Committed to Pray For over 17 years, almost 100 men in our church have committed to support our pastor through a regular, systematic pray-er effort. Every six to nine weeks these men are asked to pray for the pastor for one full hour, wherever they are. Addi-tional prayer concerns are communicated by a postcard prior to the assigned day.
If you would like to join this group, you can fill out the card in the pew rack and drop it in the offering plate, or send an email with your name, address, and phone number to [email protected].

Allan Taylor to Keynote Sunday School Leadership Weekend Allan Taylor is Minister of Education at First Baptist Church of Woodstock, Georgia, where he has served since February, 1995. Under his leader-ship, the Sunday School attendance there has grown from 2,500 to 5,800. Previously, he served Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, and London Bridge Baptist Church in Vir-ginia Beach, Virginia.
Before surrendering to full-time Christian service, he was a high school football coach. Allan is the founder of Ember to Blaze Ministries and writes Sunday School, leadership, and training materials. He has authored three books: "Sunday School in HD," "The Six Core Values of Sunday School," and "Disciplining and Restoring the Fallen." He has also produced the DVD series, "Sunday School Done Right,” as well as the brand new DVD series, "Forward From Here!" He conducts numerous training seminars nationally and internationally, mentors, instructs, and he encourages Christian educators and lay leaders.
Allan will be with us February 21 –22 for Sunday School leadership meetings. Mark the date on your calendar now.
Romania Mission Trip July 3-14 This year the mission team will be con-ducting Vacation Bible School for children, as well as doing Women’s Ministry and Community Evangelism. For information, contact John Frank Reeve, and plan now to attend an organizational meeting on Feb-ruary 23 following the evening service.
Welcome to First Baptist Church! If you are our guest, please take a moment to register using the tear-off portion of this bulletin. We ask that you either place this registration card in the offering plate as we receive our offering this morning, or bring it by the Infor-mation Center. Our volunteers at the Information Desk will be helpful in finding your way around our church, as well as provide you with infor-mation about the ministries of our church. We also have a gift prepared for you, if you bring your registration card to the Information Center.
We are delighted to welcome Dennis Swanberg, a.k.a. “the Swan,” a.k.a. “America’s Minister of Encourage-ment” to our pulpit today. The Bible says that “a joyful heart is good medi-cine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.” (Proverbs 17:22 HCSB) In this hurting, broken world that we live in, Jesus said that He has come to give life and that more abundantly. (John 10:10) In part, that is what today is about. My prayer is that all of us would see that abundant life that Je-sus has promised to give to us.
Joining Dennis to lead us in worship is his friend and ours, Benjamin “Benjy” Harlan. Benjy is a prolific arranger and composer. He has served several Southern Baptist academic institutions throughout his ministry. Currently, he is the Church Music Consultant for the Louisiana Baptist Convention.
I want to say thank you to everyone who has worked to make this week-end a success. Many of you have given up a portion or all of your weekend. Thank you. I also want to thank those of you who usually attend Sunday School at 9:45 a.m. and worship at 11:11 for adjusting your schedule today. Your sweet and cooperative spirits have encouraged me. Because of our weekend focus with Dennis Swan-berg, we will not be having our usual 6:00 p.m. service tonight.
From Our Pastor Thank You For Coming If you are our guest, we have a special gift for you after today’s service. So that we can get to know you better, please fill out both sides of this tear-off section and bring it to the Information Center near the col-umns. We have a gift bag ready for you.
