Greetings from theExecutive Director
2015 has been a busy year for AlicePaul. We often reference her
comment that the 'movement is a sortof mosaic' and this year feels as
though many pieces are falling intoplace in the mosaic. While many of you visit
Paulsdale for events or actively support our programs, there are just as many who are too far away to do thatbut who want to play a part. Here are some ways youcan support the cause, whether near or far, from her
home farm.
Activist Jessica Neuwirth has released a new book,"Equal Means Equal: Why the Time for an EqualRights Amendment is Now." It lays out the rationalefor the ERA and its impact on the average American'slegal rights. Copies are available in the API gift shop.Read and share!
In May the Equal Rights Amendment was reintroducedinto both Houses of Congress and has more cosponsors than it's had in decades. To know where yourSenator or Representative stands on the ERA, visitpopvox.com and search for SJ Res 15 & 16 or HJ Res51 & 52. Congressional members and staff follow thesite closely to gauge what their constituents care about.Leave your comments to encourage them to get on

board with the bills or thank them for already being acosponsor. A June article at Time.com entitled 'Put EqualRightsChampion Alice Paul on the $10 Bill" is one of severalappeals for Alice as the choice for a woman on ourcurrency. Cast your vote for Alice atthenew10.treasury.gov. On August 6th, Senator Robert Menendez (DNJ)introduced a bill to award Alice Paul a CongressionalGold Medal. Again, I hope you will urge your ownrepresentatives to sign on as cosponsors by visitingpopvox.com or calling their district or Washingtonoffices. Producer and actress Kamela Lopez has created afeaturelength documentary called "Equal MeansEqual," which explores the conditions for women inAmerica and abroad and how an Equal RightsAmendment could change them. Watch for news of itsrelease later in the year, hopefully at a theater nearyou. Gather your friends for a night at the movies!
It is exciting that Alice Paul's name and work forequality is being discussed in different mediums andvenues on the national stage. I hope that you will getinvolved in whatever way you can, add your piece tothe mosaic and support the cause she championed allof her life full legal equality for all. Thank you very much for your interest and support forAPI.

Saying Goodbye Isn't Easy ...CollegeBound GAC Girls Reflect on TheirTime at APIFor Lara Repholz, joining GAC as a 15 year old highschool student reminded her of visiting the historic site asa wideeyed second grader on a school trip. Even thoughshe joined solo, Lara reflected, "It was easy to makefriends because GAC is full of girls who share many ofthe same values". Lara credits API with helping her tobuild the foundation for these values as she pursues herdream at Rutgers University's Douglass ResidentialCollege in the fall.
"GAC made me think about things I hadn't given anythought to before', shared Mariya Leonovych. "Like howdo girls in Third World countries handle problems that areno big deal for us. Because they don't have ourresources, those problems are huge for them'.
"My most favorite activity was having discussions withmy GAC peers about women's rights", stated SameeraPolavarapu. "It was these discussions that fueled myparticipation in events like Day of the Girl at the UnitedNations and the National Foundation for WomenLegislators conference in Philadelphia." No wonder thatthis bright collegebound GAC grad will doublemajor inInternational Business and Communications at UMaryland.
