SIXTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

0027 MDP 052117 4

STEWARDSHIP

SHARING TIME, TALENT AND

TREASURE

PARISH FINANCIAL INFORMATION On May 14, 2017, the Sunday collection totaled $14,082.00

and the second collection for the mosaic on the Trinity Dome

of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate

Conception totaled $1,017.00. Thank you for your generosity

to Mother of Divine Providence!

The second collection this weekend will be for the Parish

Fund.

Dear Friends,

In the Gospel today we will hear Jesus speak of another

Advocate given to us by the Father, the Spirit of Truth.

Our first reading from the Acts of the Apostles records

the coming of that same Spirit into the early Church in

Samaria. Listen to the readings given to you and reflect

on the ways that we too have been left orphans and enjoy

the presence of the Spirit here in our parish trying our

best to help each other to keep God’s commandments and

share the Good News!

Today two newly ordained priests will be celebrating

their First Mass. Pray for them as they begin to imitate

Christ, the High Priest in their new parishes. It is always

an exciting time for our local Church and indeed for the

Universal Church to have new priests!

Please pray that more young men, especially from this

parish, will hear the call of God to be His priests. We

have potential vocations here already, but they need our

encouragement and support because they may be afraid.

Help them, consider if someone in your family or on your

street may have a priestly heart. If you let me know, I will

ask them to consider this movement of the Holy Spirit.

The common answer to why men wait so long or don’t

even consider the priesthood is, ‘no one ever asked me.’

Have a good week,

Father Cioppi

MASS BOOK 2018 The Mass Book for January

thru June, 2018 will open

on Wednesday, May 24th

after the 8:00 AM Mass in

the Parish Offices building.

WITHOUT OUR PRIESTS THERE WOULD BE NO MASS!

Gracious and loving God, we thank You for the gift of our priests.

Through them, we experience Your presence in the sacraments.

Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for Your people.

Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus.

Inspire them with the vision of Your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel.

Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of Your divine

grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns

as our Eternal Priest. Amen.

HUMAN BEINGS – GOD’S TAPESTRIES

"Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.

And in Your book they all were written,

the days fashioned for me,

when as yet there were none of them."

---Psalm 139:16

Psalm 139 reveals the enormity and omnipotence of

God. Yet when it gave an example of God's power and

might, it did not give the example of His creation of

mountains, seas, or far-flung galaxies. Instead, to

express the wonder of God's unparalleled creative

power, the writer mentions the fashioning of the human

in the womb. The Hebrew word for God's forming us

in the womb, raqam, is the same term used for

needlework or embroidery. In other words, we are a

tapestry that displays God's artistic mastery. And like

an artist who knows his creation down to the last detail,

God intimately knows us.

Let us pray that we appreciate the wonder and beauty of

God's creation in every one of His tapestries, our fellow

human beings. May the knowledge that we are

intimately known by Him shape our lives and our

actions.

PARISH

SERVICES

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

LOOKING AHEAD -- MANNA FOOD DRIVE Each year we support the Manna Food Drive sponsored by the

Archdiocese of Philadelphia. This is an archdiocesan wide

effort to supply food for the cupboards in our 5 county area.

Our drive will be on the weekend of June 24 and 25. We ask

for donations of non-perishable items as well as paper goods,

laundry soap, tea and coffee. These items can be placed in the

blue bins in the back of church.

HELP NEEDED TO TRANSPORT THE FOOD On Monday, June 26th after the 8 A.M. Mass. If you are able

to help, call Sister Veronica at the parish office and meet us in

the back of Church after the 8 A.M. Mass on Monday. We

will load the cars and take the food to Martha’s Choice Market

Place. Thank you in advance for your help. We are most

grateful.

SUMMER REMINDERS Because there are so many comings and goings during the

summer months, we would like to offer a few reminders about

some needs that we have always before us…

CASSEROLE PROGRAM for St. John Hospice is on the

second Wednesday of each month. Drop off details are in the

OUT REACH section of our Bulletin.

While you are traveling, many times we find our travel bags

filled with small soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, etc. These sizes

are perfect for use at St. John’s Hospice for the men who come

in for an overnight or just to get a shower and clean clothing.

There is a basket in the back of church for your donations.

MARTHA’S CHOICE MARKET PLACE also known as

Norristown Food Cupboard at Catholic Social Services. The

blue bins in the back of church are ready to receive your

regular donations of non-perishable foods. Paper products are

also a welcome donation. Coffee and tea can be a real treat.

Thank you for your faithful support.

GIFT OF SIGHT is an effort to assist people in poor areas

with prescription glasses. When Lens Crafters visits these

areas they are in need of old prescription glasses - they take at

least 10,000 pair of glasses for each area visited. If you have

glasses around the house and don’t know what to do with

them, please place them in the box in the back of church for

this purpose.

WHAT HAVE YOU SEEN THIS WEEK? Well, here I am sitting at the computer and my mind is a

complete blank. I must have been walking around with my

eyes closed this week because I have been sitting here with a

blank page. So, I must ask you, what have YOU seen this

week? If you would like to share it with me, please send it to

[email protected] and you may see it in the bulletin.

Have a great week.

PREP KID’S CORNER (TOP SECRET, NO PARENTS ALLOWED!)

This Week’s Memo: The Holy Spirit is coming! We have been enjoying this Easter Season, and for 40 days the Risen Jesus has been with us, walking and talking and sharing Himself. Now He is preparing to go back up into Heaven on Ascension Thursday, and He promises us that He will “not leave us orphans.” He will send us the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, who is coming to us at Pentecost! This week with your family, plan to attend Ascension Thursday Mass. It’s a Holy Day of Obligation, as we bid farewell to Jesus, who returns to the Father in Heaven and tells us to pray and wait for the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. In Church: Can you Find it? There is a stained glass window for Ascension Thursday. Can you find it?

MTC NEWS: May Procession took place on May 12, 2017, a wonderful

tradition honoring Mary, the Mother of our Lord. MTC

students processed up Allendale Road, singing Immaculate

Mary. Students filed in to church for a Mass celebrated by

George. Anna’s wonderful essay on her devotion to our

Lady was the reason for her selection as May Queen. Like

Anna, may we all be inspired by Mary for her devotion to our

URBO-CHARGE YOUR DONATIONS. GIVE

THE GIFT OF ACCESS TO A CATHOLIC

EDUCATION You donate $100, and it turns into $1,000. You give

$500, and *poof*, now it's $5,000. Yes, you read that

correctly. YOU have the ability to make a donation of a

nominal amount of money, which will immediately grow

ten-fold on its way to supporting Catholic education.

Your PA State tax dollars can be easily redirected to

families that struggle to afford Catholic education (or

simply give up and never try) in the Archdiocese of

Philadelphia. You can even direct those tax dollars

specifically to MTC, where 40% of our current families

need the helping hand.

The process is extremely simple. You fill out a form.

Then the Foundation for Catholic Education guides you

through the rest. If you want to talk to someone "in the

know" first, here are two people that would be happy to

chat with you. (Oh, and by the way, they are or will be

doing this themselves!)

SMART SUMMER SHOPPING = BIG

FALL SAVINGS OFF TUITIONS

It’s simple, Scrip participation retailers agree to

sell gift certificates to our organization at a

discount. Families like yourselves buy the

certificates for full face value, they redeem

them for full face value, and our parish and our

families split the difference as revenue or

tuition deduction. This is exciting because

everybody wins!

* The retailer gets cash up front and

repeat business…

* You get a powerful fundraising

alternative that involves no selling…

You’re the family that benefits from the

fundraising.

The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular

household shopping dollars to work. You earn

money for yourself and your parish without

spending a single additional penny.
