Palaeolithic Period Neolithic Period The Metal Age

Where do you live?

I live in a cave with my tribe.

I live in a house made of mud and

straw.

I live in a small town protected by

soldiers.

What tools do you use?

My dad makes tools by banging stones together to

shape them.

My mum uses a polished stone to

grind cereals.

My dad makes tools and weapons

from metal.

What arts and crafts do you do?

We paint the caves with pictures of

animals.

We make pottery and wool clothes.

My mum has some beautiful metal

jewellery.

What do you eat?

My dad hunts and my mum gathers

fruit and vegetables.

We eat cereals and we have milk from

our cows.

The farmers grow lots of crops and

we have meat too.

According to the 4Cs curriculum (Coyle 1999), a successful CLIL lesson should combine elements of the following:

Content - Progression in knowledge, skills and understanding related to specific elements of a defined curriculum

Communication - Using language to learn whilst learning to use language

Cognition - Developing thinking skills which link concept formation (abstract and concrete), understanding and language

Culture - Exposure to alternative perspectives and shared understandings, which deepen awareness of otherness and self.
