    Installing the Battery Battery Tips

Battery life depends on the network,

signal strength, temperature, features, and accessories you use.

    Always use MotorolaOriginal batteries and

chargers. The warrantydoes not cover damagecaused by non-Motorola batteries and/or chargers.

New batteries or batteries stored fora long time may take more time tocharge.

When charging your battery, keep it

near room temperature. When storing your battery, keep it

    46 Setting Up Your Phone

    Tips

Your phone uses assisted-Global PositioningSystem(AGPS) satellite signals to estimateyour location. If your phone cannot find strongsatellite signals, your AGPS might be slower,

less accurate, or it might not work at all. AGPSprovides only an approximate location, oftenwithin 150 feet (45 meters) but sometimesmuch farther from your actual location.

To improve AGPS accuracy: Go outside and away from

underground locations, coveredvehicles, structures with metal orconcrete roofs, tall buildings, andfoliage. Indoor performance mightimprove if you move closer towindows, but some window sunshielding films can block satellite

    signals.

equipment, and other electronicdevices that might interfere with or

block AGPS satellite signals. Extend your phone antenna.

Hold your phone away from your body, and point the phone antenna toward

the sky Do not cover the antenna areawith your fingers

AGPS uses satellites controlled by the U.S.government and subject to changes

implemented in accordance with theDepartment of Defense AGPS user policy andthe Federal Radio Navigation Plan. Thesechanges might affect AGPS performance.

    77SAR Data

The model wireless phone meets thegovernments requirements for exposure toradio waves.

Your wireless phone is a radio transmitter andreceiver. It is designed and manufactured not to

exceed limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF)energy set by the Federal CommunicationsCommission (FCC) of the U.S. Government and by theCanadian regulatory authorities. These limits are partof comprehensive guidelines and establish permittedlevels of RF energy for the general population. Theguidelines are based on standards that weredeveloped by independent scientific organizationsthrough periodic and thorough evaluation of scientific

studies. The standards include a substantial safetymargin designed to assure the safety of all persons, regardless of age or health.

The exposure standard for wireless mobile phonesemploys a unit of measurement known as the

Specific Absorption Rate, or SAR. The SAR limit setby the FCC and by the Canadian regulatoryauthorities is 1.6 W/kg.1Tests for SAR are conductedusing standard operating positions accepted by theFCC and by Industry Canada with the phone

transmitting at its highest certified power level in alltested frequency bands. Although the SAR isdetermined at the highest certified power level, theactual SAR level of the phone while operating can bewell below the maximum value. This is because the

phone is designed to operate at multiple powerlevels so as to use only the power required to reachthe network. In general, the closer you are to awireless base station, the lower the power output.

Before a phone model is available for sale to thepublic in the U.S. and Canada, it must be tested andcertified to the FCC and Industry Canada that it doesnot exceed the limit established by each governmentfor safe exposure. The tests are performed in
