From the Junior School Council

To the MWNPS Community,

Christmas is fast approaching and we are all already starting to buy presents and plan for the feast on Christmas Day. As we do this, the Junior School Council would like you to spare a thought for those who are ‘doing it tough’ this Christmas, not only in Australia but overseas. Last year, we donated the Glen Waverly Benevolent Society with canned food and toys, who were very thankful for our donations.

A couple of years ago, the JSC started a new tradition at MWNPS, to donate the same amount of money ($5.00) that would otherwise be used for a Kris Kringle to a charity of their choice. This year, the 2017 Junior School Council have chosen to donate money to Oxfam Unwrapped to help people overseas live a better life.

What amazes me is that so little goes so far with Oxfam! For only $10.00 we could provide seeds to an impoverished family and for the same amount of money, we could buy a chicken, and begin to sustain a family with fresh eggs. We could buy a veggie garden for $55.00, for $15.00 a small water tank for a family, or provide 2 goats for $80.00, to a family which would keep them for fresh milk.

Throughout the month of December, could we please ask you to spare a thought for others this Christmas and dig deep and redirect your Kris Kringle ‘loose change’. Each class has a small donation box, which the JSCs will collect and vote on exactly how they want the money to be spent.

This Christmas, not only can we ourselves enjoy a fabulous Christmas, but we can also help others to have a better Christmas too! Thank you for your continued support. Merry Christmas to all far and wide!

Vicki Nicolos and the Junior School CouncilJSC Co-Ordinator

Mount Waverley North Netball Club

Mount Waverley North Netball Club operates as a local club in Mount Waverley. We have a strong tradition and were previously known as Syndal North Netball Club. We aim to provide a fun and supportive environment for everyone to play netball.

Whilst we are a small club, we endeavour to give quality coaching and a pathway for our players to reach their potential. We train at Mount Waverley North Primary School and are welcoming of anyone who would like to give netball a try.

We have teams playing at WDNA in Ashwood on a Saturday across all ages from U11 to Open Age. We also run a NetSetGO program during Term 2 each year, for Preps and upwards.

If you are interested in playing please email us mailto:[email protected]
