6. Copy CatThe blue route shadows the second half of the redroute, on forestry roads, and shares some easiersingle track sections. This means you can pick andchoose a bit more red when you're ready, or ride
as a mixed ability group. Be ready - the first third is mostlyuphill giving plenty of time to enjoy the stunning views. You'll be well rewarded on the downhill from Farthingbank.“Mini Me” is a fast, snaking trail, with rollers and bermsa plenty and its downhill all the way to the majestic RiverNith. The trail follows the Nith Linns; a stunning rivergorge, so make sure you stop for a look at the rapids. Finally, you'll finish with a cycle up the impressive maindrive to the Castle.

7. The Old School 15km
8. Magic Eight BallThe optional Magic Eight trail upgrades the redto black. There are a number of shorter and longeroptions which add either a higher technical difficultyor more physicality, and usually both. The first longer
section is steep and technical; with some very, very skinnytrail, drops and plenty of big scary roots. You'll find a fewshorter 'optional features' off the side of the red routeto spice up your ride. The last black section gives you asingletrack all the way to the castle. With some very tightturns, steep climbs and the famous car park drop off, it alladds up to fun, fun, fun.

Map Legend
The red route at Drumlanrig is nicknamed“The Old School” as it has been built using onlylocally sourced material using a mix of traditionaland modern methods of trail construction; stone
pitching, hand dug bench cut and cunningly disguised minidigger sections. The result: a flowing, feature rich, 'organic'trail built 'into' the natural landscape, which feels like theones you rode as a kid, but better. The trail is tight andtwisty, using natural and constructed features to keep youon your toes; water crossings, protruding rocks, and shoulderhugging trees to clip your bars; and of course our hallmark, roots, and plenty of them. Enjoy this technical and scenictrail, which will bring a grin to your face and a differentexperience every time. N.B. There is a singletrack shortcut at about 5km, follow the ‘BAIL OUT’ way markers. Thisshorter route makes a great second 'half' lap, and is our XCrace route finish and an excellent piece of trail in its own right.
(20km total trail when added to red)
