Mountain of God Where is the real Mt. Sinai? This study Dan Nichols has pursued began in 1999 when he was given a book about “The Mountain of God.” Archeological finds and more continue to point to Jabal al Lawz in current day Saudi Ara-bia as the location of Mt. Sinai aka The Moun-tain of God.
On Monday, March 14 Dan Nichols will share his newest revision through pictures and scriptures to confirm what has been found. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. with a 15 minute inter-mission, the evening will conclude about 8:30 p.m.
Everyone Welcomed! No childcare available.
Maundy Thursday, the day before Good Friday when we observe the anniversary of the crucifixion of Jesus. So why do we observe Maundy Thurs-day?
Come at 6:30 p.m. March 24 and be reminded of the great sacrifice made by Jesus Christ on the cross. Why is this so significant?

We are excited! Rejoicing with…. Abbie Rae Brawt who declared Jesus as Lord and Savior. Abbie’s grandmother came for this special event and baptized her on February 15, 2016. Abbie is the daughter of Brittni Nellis. Encourage Abbie as she begins this walk and relationship with Jesus!
The Elders at Burnside Christian Church have been asked to share their testimonies with you. Mark Pettit shares his testimony this month.
Why do I choose to follow Christ?
I count it a real blessing to be born into a family of several generations of believers in Christ. It seems as though God has given that blessing because He knew that I would need a running start to ever come to faith in Him. I clearly remember my parents instil-ling roots of faith in God and His son Jesus through teachings, disciplines, and life modeling. I also re-member strong influences of childhood Sunday School and youth group teachers like Vivian Hull, Jean Hitz, Esther Kleopfer, and Linda Jacob. As I watched other older friends profess their decision to follow Christ, I too pledged my faith in Him and was baptized so that I might also receive forgiveness of my sins and receive eternal life when I was 9 years old. I am also very grateful for the passionate preaching of truths and unashamed bearing faith in the market place of great preachers like Max Jen-nings and Charlie Ferguson.
But as my faith was repeatedly attacked by the teachings of evolution as fact and I felt a sense of embarrassment at times around my peers, my faith commitment wore very thin. I began to drift in my relationship with Him and stray toward worldly pas-sions of a double life without satisfaction. I felt that many questions about evolution and “proof of Chris-tianity,” were too often concluded with the vague response something like “well, you just have to have faith.” DOUBT can either drive you deeper in your faith search, or away from God altogether. As I concluded my high school career, I was greatly en-couraged by my parents to attend one year of Bible College like my older brother and sister. My re-sponse to that was something rather dangerously proud and demanding, but sincere, and it went something like this--- “God, I will give you ONE YEAR to PROVE to me that you are real. IF you can prove your validity, I will follow you for the rest of my life. IF NOT, I am done being embarrassed and looking like a fool who follows legends and unfound-ed stories.” Who was I to make such a demand of The Almighty Creator and Judge of all? I don’t know, but I guess that He forgave my boldness be-
March 2016
Page 3
cause I truly wanted to drive deeper to the heart of truth.
He heard my prayer and immersed me in great Biblical teachings of the life of Christ and particu-larly a course in Christian Evidences. I think that this was a relatively new course and it was a jun-ior level class, but I was allowed to set my own electives based on the desire to get all I could in one year. That class dug deeply into the evidenc-es of assurance of the scriptures that we pos-sess today being without error, God breathed scriptures originally penned as men were guided by the Holy Spirit. We also considered the evi-dence of the apostles who knew Him best, and that none of them forsook their faith when they were being martyred for their faith. Creation evi-dences were the other major factors in giving ac-tual proofs of our faith so that we are not follow-ing a “blind” faith without reason.
That totally changed my confidence, so that I join with the apostle Paul in saying that “I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God unto the salvation of Man…” Because of this, I love the scriptures and know that they are the key to keeping the faith pure against all the attacks of Satan and the ever changing and influ-ential culture of this world aimed at our destruc-tion (Jn 10:4 & 10:10). I want to help others to know this kind of faith in Christ as well, beyond a shadow of a doubt. I still have good days and bad, but this is my strong foundation that will never fail.

Celebrating the sweet story of Easter
Ingredients: 1 tube of Biscuits Bag of large Marshmallows
1 C Melted Butter ½ C Sugar 2-3 tbsp Cinnamon
Instructions: Preheat oven as directed on the package of bis-
cuits Melt butter Combine cinnamon and sugar together Tell the kids the story of Christ’s death and resur-
rection as you work together to prepare the rolls. Use the following words in bold as a guide.
“God sent His one and only son, Jesus, to the earth to ultimately pay the price for our sin. Although Jesus was severely tempted, He never sinned. The white of the Marshmallow represents the pu-rity and sin free nature of Jesus.”
“After Jesus died he was prepared for burial. His friends wrapped Him in linen and covered Him

with oil and spices. Flatten the biscuit and dip the in butter, then roll in sugar and cinnamon.
“Jesus was then placed in the tomb and a large stone was rolled in front of the tomb to seal it shut.” Wrap the flattened dough completely around the marshmallow and make sure to seal the edges of the biscuit tightly together.
Place the rolls in the oven for as long as directed on the package. If possible bake on parchment paper.
Allow rolls to cool for 5 minutes. “After 3 days, His friends went to visit the tomb, but Jesus was not there!!!
Bite or cut into the roll to discover that it is empty, just like the tomb! Make a big deal about the empty tomb. “Because Jesus was the perfect payment for our sin, he had the power to conquer the grave and we have hope to live forever with Jesus, because He con-quered sin and eternal death.”
Enjoy eating the rolls together. “The rolls are sweet just like God’s love for us.”
After your sweet treat, sit down together and read the Easter story directly from God’s word. Afterward, take time to pray, thanking God for the gift of Jesus.
It’s a Mystery!

Something to Think About
This is a story about four people named Every-body, Somebody, anybody, and Nobody.
There was an important job to be done and Eve-rybody was asked to do it. Everybody was sure Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nodbody did it.
Somebody got angry about that because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it.
It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.
The church family is invited to witness the
wedding of Kelsey & Will….

During the month of February the office has been setting up a better way of communicating with you using OneCall Now. On a recent Sunday those present were asked to fill out a “pink” paper with your name, preferred phone num-ber, if you receive texts, and an email ad-dress. We want to be sure to have your pre-ferred method of receiving prayer requests and other congregational information in use.
Soon you will receive a prayer request using this system. From your choice, you may re-ceive a voice call, a text message, an email or a combination of these. The voice call may be computer generated. If you have caller ID, the phone number to show will be the church of-fice number, 217.746.3571.
If you elected to receive text messages, you will be asked to confirm this with your first message. This is to prevent unwanted texts to come through.
If you have not filled out that “pink” paper, please do so soon or call the church office. We’re quick learners, but please be patient with us as the staff learns how to use OneCall Now. -- The Staff

Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch
Shiloh Christian Children’s Ranch opened in 1977 as a result of the vision and efforts of Mr. Don McCain and Mr. Stan Way. The two men met dur-ing a period in which Mr. Way was a minister in the Clarence, MO area. One day the two men dis-cussed the possibility of starting a set of Christian children’s homes in northeast Missouri. Believing adequate financial support could be obtained from area churches to eventually build as many as 3 homes near Clarence and individuals to eventually become a board of trustees, there were 3 homes on the original 9 acres ministering to children in need by 1983. Today there are 4 homes on the Clarence, MO site. Seventy-five miles northeast of Clarence 3 additional homes were built near Kaho-ka, MO between 1987 & 1998 with an onsite Chris-tian school added in 1997.
A board of trustees provides oversight for the Ranch. Former trustee, Mark Adkison assumed duties as executive director in August 2005. Jay Craig, a 31 year Shiloh worker, is director of stew-ardship and Tim Craig is stewardship officer.
The ministry of Shiloh now includes a total of 6 homes for children, 2 relief homes, plus an onsite school at the Kahoka site. All of this has been pro-vided through the generous giving of people who want to help abused/neglected kids have the hope of a better life.
Children 0-15 years old come to Shiloh that are abused, neglected, and/or at-risk or just desiring a change in their life. There is no fee to send a child. Donations are accepted and funding comes from churches and individual gifts.
Each family setting has approximately 10 children in the home and biblical teaching and discipline is used as families work together in a family environ-ment, learning to cook, take care of farm animals, and other chores. Children attend 1 of 3 schools: on-site Christian, public school or Christian school. Each child attends the local Christian church as a family and may be involved in youth group, Chris-tian summer camps, Christian concerts, etc. Fami-lies go on shopping trips, to sporting events, and community functions.
If it is beneficial to the child, visits with parents/guardians will be regularly scheduled after the 1st month. No contact the 1st month allows the child to adjust to their new setting. (above taken from www.shilohranch.org)
On March 18-19 a group of people from BCC will be going to Shiloh’s Kahoka site to help wherever needed and to give some relief to the housepar-ents as the BCCers interact with the children. If you would like to be a part of this group or learn more about what they anticipate doing, speak with Heather Mohr or Brigham Dion or other Mission Team members.
Visit www.shilohranch.org to learn more or to be-come involved.
