Mountain Shadows Artist Association January 2020 Newsletter Volume 8, Issue 1 Website: www.mtnsaa.org Page 1 Presidents Message: First, hearty congratulations to three of our members for wins in the Sunniest Place on Earth Show at the Yuma Art Center!!! Arleen Wallace Towne won First Place, Carol Taylor won Third Place and Teresa Mallett won Honorable Mention! Great accomplishment, all of you!!! Our next meeting, January 14, we will be preparing for our Annual Art Show in February. Our Art Show Chairperson, Barb Thorvilson, will be giving us essential information on framing, presentation and entry timelines for the show. If you are going to put entries in the show, hearing this presentation is IMPORTANT! Unfortunately, every year we have entries come in that have to be “fixed” in order to hang in the show. Following a few simple steps in how you frame and wire your art can avoid this problem and save us precious time setting up the show before the judges arrive. Our program will be a demo by Sally Rose on Mono-printing with a Gelatin Plate! Should be very interesting! The slate of officers for the next two years will be presented from the nomination committee for your consideration and the floor will be open for additional nominations. The election will occur at the February meeting and new officers will take over at the March meeting. As always, bring your Show and Tell of recent art you’ve been working on (please limit to one item per person!!! Please remember that we do not have access to the large meeting room until 12:30 and we’re asking that you do not show up before 12:20. If necessary, we will delay the start of the meeting until about 12:45 so everyone can log in and sit down. See you all January 14, 12:30 PM!
