Dear Ministry Partners,

Warm greetings in the name of the Lord.

InIn September, I shared with our PCCC family the news of my appointment as the new Area Team Leader for Southeast Asia, an assignment which caught everyone by surprise. My journey has not been easy. I was reluctant to step into this new role because it meant filling a bigger shoe, fulfilling higher demands. I sought God, my wife, my mentor and a few trusted friends for counsel. Yet I was excited to trust God for a new direction. A sense of relief came as I realized that someone had walked this path before. I am humbled that our global leaders saw me fit to take on Dr. Tom Roxas’ role as Area Team Leader for SoutheastSoutheast Asia. I thank God for Kuya Tom’s godly and excellent leadership of CCC Southeast Asia.

Just a few months into being the National Team Leader, God let me see several of our movement’s dreams fulfilled, His goodness unmistakably evident as we: re-emphasized each staff’s spiritual walk, finished our five-year strategic plan, formed the new PCCC Board of Trustees, changed some policies, set up our new Finance Team and accounting system, formed the Funds Development Team, opened AteneoAteneo de Manila University as a new Student Led Movement base campus, pioneered the Global Church Movement in Bicol and succeeded in abiding by our national budget. These accomplishments have kept us on our knees. God deserves all the thanksgiving and praise.

The task of entrusting the PCCC leadership to someone immediately took place. After waiting on the Lord, our CCC Southeast Asia Leadership Team (ASEO LT), collaborating with PCCC, chose Rey Ibasco as the new PCCC NTL. I gladly and warmly pass on the leadership baton to Rey and Terry. The Leadership Team trusts that PCCC will move for-ward under their able stewardship. Thank you for giving them your full support.them your full support.

I’m grateful for the three “mighty men” in the National Leadership Team. Working for more than a year with Efi Fermin, Geoff Fajado and Arnaldo Ganaba has greatly encouraged methanks for your support and godly wisdom. Thank you, PCCC Board for your invaluable support so our movement could continue to do what God has called us to do.

Thank you Lord for my beloved PCCC family who trusted and faithfully served with me. Thanks too, dear ministry partners, for praying and cheerfully sharing your lives and resources. As you take time to read our stories, I pray you will be encouraged that “real” people are getting to know Jesus because of our spiritual movements.

WithWith Christmas approaching, let’s together thank Him for the greatest Gift ever given. He did not spare His own Son, demonstrating His character as a loving Giver. No wonder His blessings continue to flow out to mankind. May our hearts always be filled with gratitude, especially this Christmas and the new year. Grateful always,Grateful always,

I first met Jericho Paolo Mabansag, Joko for short, at the 2011 Eastern Visayas Leadership Training Institute (LTI). He was in my Intermediate Class. As one of my trainees he caught my interest the most with his deep and contagious passion to learn about discipleship. With my years of working with students, I knew that there’s more to this young man than meets the eye. I was certain the LordLord will use him in his campus but also in many other campuses in Tacloban.

Now a junior in BS Management, Joko attended my Advance Class in last October’s LTI. He was fired up as ever but still possessed that boyish grin I used to remember about him. I learned in the course of our conversation that Joko is now the student coordinator for the CCC Eastern Visayas UP movement, the Student Linc.

Joko continues to dream God’s dream for his campus. He and the UP core leaders have planned to have a “Greek Conference”, which is a friendly forum for all the fraternity groups. They hope to let these young idealistic dudes searching for significance know that being a Christian is not boring as most students perceive but rather the most exciting experience one can ever have.have. This then would be an in-road for more opportu-nities to present the gospel among fraternity members.

Joko’s love for God and desire to share his faith makes him an extraordinary young leader. Shortly before the LTI, he led his first mission stint in Barangay Pangdan, Catbalogan. He named this Project Acts 1:8. Gathering the youth volunteers and some friends from a small Christian church in that barangay, he conducted an over-night basic training in evangelism. Out of that mission stint, stint, 69 people prayed to receive Christ. Project Acts 1:8 became the official name of that youth group in Catbalogan.

Global Church Movement (GCM) was birthed to expand

God’s kingdom by multiplying spiritual

movements in churches and fellowships.

The job of planting mission-centered churches in the Bicol Region came as a surprise for me and my wife, Macel; but it has been a dream come true. AfterAfter we got married in 2007, we were assigned back in Bicol, where a student disciple broached the idea of a campus church. It remained a wish for a while because we transferred to Manila two years later. By that time, former PCCC disciples (alumni) took care of the ministry we left in Bicol.

THE GLOBAL CHURCH MOVEMENT IN BICOL

Even in Manila, we held on to that dream, continu-ously imparting this vision to our alumni. In September 2011, after seeking God’s direction for our family, we sensed the Lord‘s leading getting strongerto build movements of students and alumni in a church context. Discussing the matter with PCCC leaders, we were soon asked to pioneer thethe Global Church Movement (GCM) in Bicol. We accepted the challenge in June 2012, and moved to Legazpi, a city with a very active campus ministry. It felt like God gave us a ready-made team of disciples and student leaders to jumpstart GCM.

“Our Call, Bicol!” is a massive province-wide mission outreach by Philippine Campus Crusade for Christ in reaching the estimated 4 million Bicolanos by summer of next year. The 15-month project will cover the months of November till February 2014 with a peak event on March 25-31 of 2013. This is a strategy of PCCC to reach the whole of Bicolandia with the gospel of Jesus Christ.of Jesus Christ.

PCCC is mobilizing 500 staff, disciples and ministry partners to reach 8 key areas of Bicol.

Join us and seize this opportunity! The power of influence begins with one changed life—one life affecting another, moving others from where they are and launching spiritual movements in Bicol until everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus!

Lifehouse Community Church in Bicol was born a month afterwith a dozen members. Every pioneering member prepared to multiply into three generations of churches in the next five years. VeryVery recently, 94 delegates from other Bicol provinces met for the first Global Church Movement Leadership Training Conference and launched VISION 2017. Its theme MOVE and EXPAND is all about the vision of trusting God to raise up local intercessors covering six Bicol provinces, key student volunteers in campuses, and churchchurch planters and trainers to establish house churches in the region’s nine key cities. Thirteen new new believers got baptized in that conference.

PCCC's Global Church Movement (GCM) was birthed to expand God’s kingdom by multiplying spiritual movements in churches and fellowships. We’ve adopted the Church Planting Movement strategy of rapidly reproducing indigenous churches through groups of people or population segmentsthat every person in a group would follow someone who follows Jesus.follow someone who follows Jesus.

(At this writing, this newly-planted church holds two weekly services: One on Sundays for its 25-30 alumni and leaders, and a mid week service attended by 50 to 70

people inside the Bicol University.)

Fun Run. Athletes in Action Philippines (AIA), PCCC’s

sports ministry, continues its life-changing spiritual

movement through sports. Totie Andes, AIA Team Leader,

organized an advocacy run recently, with FILA and GMA

Kapuso Foundation as partners, to fund-raise for the

rebuilding of Iligan City classrooms destroyed by typhoon

Sendong. This was AIA’s first student-based fun run with

15,00015,000 runners from universities, colleges, churches, youth

organizations, and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

REACHING OUT TO STUDENTS:

Totie and his team of volunteers in Athletes In Action are grateful that they can reach out to people anywhere for Christ through floorball and other sports.

As reported by Totie Andes

God continues to bring people to Christ using sports as a platform.

Chris and Grace Garcia attended the Home Builders (HB) Facilitators’ Training in Davao City in February last year. Two weeks after, they started their own first Home Builders group with eight couples from their church and Grace’s office. All of them looked forward to their weekly meetings.

AfterAfter two months of leading that group, Chris and Grace scheduled an “I Still Do” seminar for their HB group and the other couples in their church, Christ the Risen Saviour. Their passion to reach more couples grew deeper. As it turned out, the seminar had the most impact on Grace. This was because she had been concealing a problem from Chris for quite some time.

MarriedMarried for almost 16 years and blessed with three children, Chris and Grace’s marriage was no less ideal. But then Chris said, “We’ve let complacency set in. We neglected God and His word. Transparency between us became nil. After starting our HB group and attending the I Still Do seminar, Grace began to change. I felt upset because her openness was something very new to me.”

AsAs facilitators, Chris and Grace embraced the timeless truth that God designed marriage to be a covenant relationship and married couples must build a God-honouring marriage. But as facilitators this had to be true in their own lives first.

Deeper issues began to surface that shook the foundation of their marriage. The following months found them going through a difficult and painful process.

They, however, hung onto the Lord and kept leading and encouraging more couples to join their group. In January of 2012, Chris and Grace formed their second HB group in church with 8 couples. Handling two groups proved even more challenging with work, kids, business and church responsibilities to juggle. But these challenges were nothing compared to the crisis they were soon confronted with. What waswas thought of at first as a manageable problem became a nightmare. It reached the point where Chris wanted to leave his wife, while Grace contemplated taking her own life.

The timeless principles they’ve learned from past HB sessions reminded them of God’s plan for their marriage. The prayers of loved ones and close friends sustained them. Facing the problem together was the only option, and they resolved to stick together through thick and thin. The vow “for better or for worse” has to be lived out because giving up, divorce or suicide has no part in their lives.

ChrisChris and Grace were sure of these things about God: He is powerful to solve any crisis. He is loving and gracious in dealing with His children. And He knows what’s best.

MarriageMarriage for Chris and Grace has taken an exciting turn both as members and leaders. When asked for the greatest lesson the Lord has taught him in the midst of the crisis, Chris smiles and says, “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labour in vain.”

God is powerful tosolve any crisis, loving and gracious in dealing with His children. He knows what’s best.

The interview portion was the highlight of the night, with questions thrown by hosts, Audie Gemora and Anthony Pangilinan, as well as from the audience. The Gresham couple graciously responded to all the queries with grace, wit, humor, charm and wisdom.

W hen asked of his first impression of Jack (C.S. Lewis), Douglas fondly shared that for him, C.S. Lewis was not physically

elegant, but this impression was overcome with extreme admiration for his great mind, character and deep spirituality, which

affected not just him, but generations of men and women who have come to love his various works.

WW hen asked “Does the Christian faith and Hollywood mix?”, Douglas answered, “They do mix very well…like oil and water.”

He went on to encourage the largely-Christian media audience not to aspire for Hollywood, but to develop their media industry by

being committed to the truth and not to compromise their faith in Jesus Christ. He implored the audience: ”Find your own Christian

billionaires to fund your movies. Do it yourselves, do it here and do it right.”

The Artists in Touch Team with Dr. Orpah Marasigan (fourth from right standing) with the Greshams

Finally, when asked: “How can we measure a producer’s success?” Douglas responded: “

“A producer’s success can only be gauged by his relationship with Jesus Christ and how well he relates to others. He should show his commitment to the faith by the way he produces his work.”

LLike Narnia, our world is on the brink of hopelessness and despair. The Lord Jesus Christ, as portrayed by the lion Aslan

in the Chronicles, is calling and raising up sons and daughters

of heavenly royalty in various influential sectors of society

who will embrace His will, realize that they are to lead in

truth, and stand their ground as they battle the forces of evil.

We praise and thank God for Douglas and Merrie Gresham

whowho have done their part in influencing the world for Christ

through the legacy of C.S. Lewis’ works. In the Philippines,

praise God for Artist In Touch under Team Leader Dr. Orpah

Marasigan as they continually raise the banner of faith in the

arts, entertainment and media!

“A producer’s success can only be gauged by his relationship with Jesus Christ...”

Douglas Gresham, stepson of C.S. Lewis with wife Merrie

They looked like winter royalty from the land of Narnia.

DouglasDouglas and Merrie Gresham immediately impressed the au-

dience as simple folks garbed in a predominantly white en-

semble, and with an air of other-worldliness that came from

many years of having lived full earthly lives. The Filipino

audience that came to see and hear from them were from the

entertainment industry, a mix of actors, directors, producers,

writers and other media personnel, from major networks

ABS CBN, GMA7, TV5, and CBN Asia-700 Club Philip-

pines. They shared one thing in common. They were all

Narnia fans. It was definitely a surreal evening for them to be

in the same room with Douglas, stepson of C.S. Lewis and

co-producer of “The Chronicles of Narnia” movie series.
