CLIMATE CHANGE!
)א'ט י(והקמתי את בריתי אתכם ולא יכרת כל בשר עוד ממי המבול
"I have established My covenant with you, and I shall never destroy all of mankind through the waters of flood."
A rainbow is caused by the reflection of light in water droplets in the atmosphere. It is therefore difficult to comprehend how a 'natural' phenomenon such as a rainbow can be a sign from Hashem that He will never bring a flood of destruction to the entire world!
The Maharal explains that prior to the flood, the sun's rays had less intensity and even under the right conditions could not produce a rainbow.
This was a symbolic act, whereby Hashem empowered the sun after the flood to evaporate water more efficiently and thereby, to some extent, minimize the chances of another flood. This was an indication of Hashem's benevolence towards Baalei Teshuva.
DST begins Motzei Shabbos.

Halachic Highlight
T he Shulchon Oruch (114:5) rules that if one did not recite משיב הרוח ומוריד הגשם he must repeat the entire Shmoneh Esrei. This applies once he has
commenced, even the first word, of the next Brocho, אתה קדוש. If one realized his omission after reciting מחיה המתים' ברוך אתה ה , but prior to commencing אתה קדוש he may recite משיב הרוח ומוריד הגשם at this juncture. If one realized his omission after reciting the words ' ברוך אתה ה but prior to reciting the words מחיה המתים, the Shulchon Oruch as explained by the Mishna Berurah (30) rules that one should complete the Brocho and then recite the words משיב הרוח ומוריד הגשם HaGaon Rabbi Moshe Feinstein zt'l (O.C. 4:93) opines that one should follow this ruling.

Pirchim News
S uccos Bein Hazmanim once again saw a Torahdik and fun‐filled daily program with anywhere between 40 and 70 boys participating in the
activities. Run by the Kollel Parents Committee, and headed by Rabbi G Rose, the gamut of activities included a “Biathlon sports day” in Albert Park with boys having arranged sponsors and then riding or cycling to complete set distances. Also, a fun trip (by train) to Melbourne Zoo, and a day of outdoors sports in Caulfield Park (with a swim and BBQ afterwards), and a beautiful Simchas Beis HaSho’eva at family Farrel Meltzer. Many thanks to all the sponsors ‐ all proceeds to future Pirchim activities.

Mazel Tov
T he Kollel extends a warm Mazel Tov to Dr Ian Fishman and family on the
occasion of Julian’s Bar Mitzva. Julian received his first Aliya on Thursday in the Kollel (where he leined too!), followed by a lavish Kiddush in the Kollel. At this time, the Kollel once again thanks
Ian and the Fishman family for their great friendship and support of the Kollel and the Yungerleit.
Mincha in Kollel Please note that as of this week, and for the rest of the Summer, Mincha in Kollel will be at 5:45pm daily. Maariv remains at 8:30pm and 9:30pm, until the beginning of November when the 8:30pm Maariv becomes progressively later.
